During these days I have remembered with enthusiastic gratitude the suggestions you gave us in response to my last letter, in combination with the university text that Radha-vallabha Das gave you “On writing well”
I have tried to apply the idea following your instructions. So we get this new card. Which I planned to send in a few weeks, so that there is enough time for maturation in the important things that are written, but I have just read the letter about the incidents in Peru, and although I am totally ignorant about the matter, I have felt urgency to send you this letter right now. I think it is because it has caused me distress that you have been distressed. So please kindly accept this humble offering from me.

More nectar than poison
On one occasion, we witnessed an argument between two devotees (sadu sanga).
One of them. The older devotee argued emphatically in favor of the “quality” of the singing over the “quantity” of Names that could be achieved by vibrating them – by pushing them-.
While the youngest, highlighted as a priority, the commitment to reach the certain number of daily accounts without dwelling too much on “quality.”
As an observer, we try to balance both fundamentals internally, so that we can take advantage of the incident and improve our practice.
After treasuring the antagonistic words between the two... The personal analysis of the discussion witnessed naturally began...
“We have made a promise to our Gurudeva to complete -1,728- beads at least /4 daily. I told myself.
We truly have the firm conviction to do it (with enthusiasm, by will, or by force?).
“The warnings about the offenses that may be committed while we sing and the displeasure of feeling like offenders are not minor.”
The weakness of the mind barely allows, sometimes, only sometimes, small areas of sanity while I sing... relieving, fresh and sweet spaces, perhaps comparable to the palliative experienced by a thirsty person on the verge of dying, who, upon recovering a certain emotional balance by drink water in that oasis, which he has fortunately found, and which he tries to hold on to with nails and teeth, anticipating the imminent offensive of the crazy elephant. He resists having to give up.

Durante estos días he recordado con entusiasta gratitud las sugerencias que nos diste como respuesta a mi última carta, en mixtura al texto universitario que Radha-vallabha Das te diera “Sobre escribir bien”
He tratado de aplicar la idea siguiendo tus indicaciones. Así que conseguimos esta nueva carta. La cual pensaba enviar en unas semanas, a fin de que haya suficiente tiempo de maduración en las cosas importantes que se escriben, pero acabo de leer la carta sobre los incidentes en Perú, y si bien me encuentro totalmente ignorante acerca del asunto, he sentido urgencia por enviarte esta carta ahora mismo. Estimo, se debe, a que me ha provocado angustia el que te hayas angustiado. Así que, por favor, ten a bien aceptar esta humilde ofrenda de mi parte.

Más néctar que veneno
En una ocasión, presenciamos una discusión entre dos devotos (sadu sanga)
Uno de ellos. El devoto mayor, argumentaba enfáticamente a favor de la “calidad” del canto por sobre la “cantidad” de Nombres que se pudieran llegar a conseguir vibrándolos -a los empujones-.
Mientras que el más joven, subrayaba como prioridad, el compromiso por alcanzar el determinado número de cuentas diarias sin detenerse demasiado en la “calidad”.
Como observador, tratamos de balacear ambos fundamentos en nuestro fuero interno, a modo de poder aprovechar el incidente y poder mejorar nuestra práctica.
Luego de atesorar las palabras antagónicas entre ambos… Comenzó naturalmente el análisis personal sobre la discusión presenciada…
“Hemos hecho la promesa a nuestro Gurudeva de completar diariamente -1.728- cuentas como mínimo /4. Me dije.
Tenemos verdaderamente la firme convicción de hacerlo (con entusiasmo, por voluntad, ¿o por la fuerza?).
“Las advertencias sobre las ofensas que se puedan llegar a cometer mientras cantamos y el disgusto por sentirnos ofensores no es algo menor.”
La debilidad de la mente apenas permite, a veces, solo a veces, pequeñas áreas de cordura mientras canto… espacios aliviosos, frescos y dulces, quizá comparables al paliativo experimentado por un sediento a punto de morir, que, al recuperar cierto equilibrio emocional por beber agua en ese oasis, con el que afortunadamente se ha encontrado, y al que intenta asirse con uñas y dientes, previendo la inminente ofensiva del elefante loco. Se resiste a tener que abandonar.
Sentimos paralelamente la presencia de Maya en su aspecto negro, pretendiendo impedirnos la huida de este mundo, pero que… sumisamente se entrega a la voluntad de Radha Krisna, exhibiendo su esencia ante el Señor, que inclinado hacia Su devoto ya a punto de llorar … ordena destrabar el amarre, hasta donde sea posible. ¡¿Cuántas veces he sorprendido a mi mente infraganti en distracciones espantosas, habiendo cantado ya un considerable número de cuentas antes de haberla descubierto? …
¿Cómo poder evaluar algún resultado positivo sin agilizarnos en la virtud de extraer néctar del veneno?

Mientras tanto continúo… continúo: atendiendo la “calidad” por sobre la “cantidad”, y la “cantidad” por sobre la “calidad” …

El demonio Balvala sobrevolaba los lugares de sacrificio esparciendo sobre ellos todo tipo de inmundicias. Sin embargo, sus ofensas motivaron a los bramanas a que fuera tenido en cuenta durante lo ocurrido en la asamblea de Naimisaranya, cuando el Señor Balarama decidió darle muerte a Romaharsana Suta golpeándolo con una brizna de hierva kusa.

Honestamente creo que no tardaría demasiado tiempo en caer al barro de la inapetencia espiritual, si en caso el Señor Krsna no prestara auxilio a mi memoria, con aquello que le permitiera a mi mente superar su mala praxis.

… ahora que has suavizado tu trato para con esta alma confundida. Tomemos el ilimitado flujo nectario de los trascendentales pasatiempos del Señor.
