       (((paoho)))      Santiago Temple.   5.05AM.   Tulasi Puja is going on down in the Temple Room  Brothe Ass just sneezed from little pollen iritation.     Ekadasi was pretty good.    We have hard time balancing all our service.  We get the travel arrangements going and then we have rounds left.  We get the rounds done and then it is time for class or sankirtan or iindividual consultations, then we dont have time for Letters to the Editor, because it is late and Brother Ass is tired and he wants to write fun stuff or see fun movies, Maha-bharata or read fun books. Ramayana......    ....             O.K.  PP  and then Japa with devotees, then 11AM, San Jose, Boise, Bhaktivaibhava, Internet, Webex, Symposium.  12.15PM     Skeedaddle into the coche and off to a program at one devotas Yoga Center.   Expect about 30 devotees and 40 guests.

Monday is Super Programa at the Mint with 700,000 special inviteds.   Socrates and Maharaja Parikshit!!!                      Arjuna.....        Maybe form and Organizing Committee for next year's program...    The Song of Solomon and Rupa Goswami....   TKU - T.Brown...

I'd like to ask a question about japa.
I run a blog on chanting japa, and i use your classes and Japa Joe doc also. (You can check it here:  japa.blog.hu)

You wrote in Japa Joe (rev. 2011.02.11.):
"Then you mind goes into an iconographic rather than linear mode."
I tried to find the definition of iconographic but i wasn't successful.
Can you explain the meaning of this word, please?

                 HpS - ASA -  AGTSP  paoho.  It is a term that you can probably find in Marshall McLuhan's books.     In the mode of passion our mind is working in a line, reasoning:    It's 6AM now, will I have time to take my car to the 24-hour oil change place and get the oil changed before I go to work...

  .... In Iconographic mode, no mental speculation, we are in Dhyana, meditating on things, the Holy Name.   In Ernst Poppel's, "Mind-works", the shows results of his experiments that Western people can keep about 3-seconds of events in their consciousness at one time as one event.  Time is not a line that can be divided into nano-seconds.  It can be complete events, icons, that we can contemplate of up to three seconds.      We discuss this in the Japa Joe book.  A Yantra is a visual icon.   A Catholic will say they that they are worshipping the Icons in the Temple, where we say the Deities in the Temple.  The Orthodox Church is famous for it's Icons.

          Mental speculation: Jnana,    go to Meditation, contemplation: Dhyana, and we hope then to Bhakti!

           En Vrndavana solamente Krsna y Balarama matan a los demonios!

My dear guruji:

It is very good to read that your health is ok now, I thank Radha-Syam for that.

Almost finishing the most of Kartika, the most auspicious month  in the year, together with Purusottama this year.

I asked Mukunda Datta das, the headchief of the pujaris in Kirsna-Balarama Mandir, who is also in Vanaprastha Asrama, what should I do to please Krsna these two important months, and he told me:

"chant more rounds, eat less, do harinama, sadhu sanga, recite some prayers, do parikramas"

So, I tried to do all this, starting with mangala aratik at  home every day, reciting some astakams for our deities, Radha-Giridhari-Madana Gopal, then parikrama some days to Govardhana and some others only in Radha Kunda, eating only kicthri with vegetables grown in our garden, chapatis and some fruit in the evening, attending SS Mahanidhi Swami Maharaja lectures about Rasa Dance Lila and harinama through Radha Kunda at the end of the class, Damodarastakam at night at Gopalji Mandir, reading Srimad Bhagavatam and even by the mercy of Radharani, we had the excellent chance to make the dress for Haridev in his temple in Govardhan, near Manasi Ganga for Govardhan Puja Mahotsava.

I have been chanting more rounds and when I am chanting I remember your words in Japa Joe "Are you chanting with joy and enthusiasm?" "Don't chant for chanting, chant because Krsna does like to hear you chanting" and sometimes I find that I am chanting only to finish my rounds, when that is the case, what can I do?

I rather stop chanting for a while until my mind stops flickerint but it is really difficult sometimes,  I ask Ragunatha Das Goswami to preach my mind to chant in a more fixed state of mind. but sometimes it doesn't happen. Please my dear guru maharaja, give me your mercy so I can get more fixed in my japa, gayatri and in my devotional service.

My four principles OK, fortunately in Radha Kunda the environment pulls us to do it, except for the monkeys that sometimes throw me to the water or snakes that sleep in my kutir or insects bitting me all the time.  I know that is Krsna's plan and I am only his instrument but at that moment I only get angry and don't think of Krsna or Radha. Unfortunately, I am still a very conditioned soul, please pray that some day I can trascend all these material things.

Thank you very much for your blessings and prayers to this fallen soul.

             HpS - ASA -    ........'o ..                   We only hope to get a small drop of your position some time in the future.    We all aspire to visit Hari-deva Mandir once in every five years, but it is just down the road from you!     You are so fortunate.  We can only appreciate your letters and hope to achieve the same destination some day.   Of course, we also have special mercy that no one else has, but this news of Vrndavana is the essence of everything.

We are in Santiago now as you can see from the DTCs.   Very nice Sankirtana here.  The devotees are so sincere.   We see that the WORLD is actually chaning. There is so, so, so much more vegetarian diet and acceptance of reincarnation. This is the basis.

Then comes Caitanya caritamrta.   Are you reading it!    We hope your war, rasa-lila, with the monkeys, snake and insects shows you as the winner.  Do you want to do what you are doing for ever?

Esteemed Professor. It is so nice to get your association. Whenever I do it makes me think of Kolkatta and our life there. I think it is a participant in the eternal pastimes of Sri Gauranga and all his associates.
We just finished forwarding all the letters, paper, bio-datas, that I sent to you to Harsh. Then by Superior arrangement he called me by Skype as I was just sending the last paper. It has been so, so, so frustrating to communicate from here. The interent freezes again and again or doesn't repsond at all. So it took one hour to forward everything but it seems that it has all come intact. He already open Dora Bazan's paper.

We discussed how to stay in touch for the editing. As I mentioned we still have Ruben Devoto's paper and Miguel Polo's. We will work on them, but the six sent are very substantial.

I also received the copy of your letter to Dr. Mabbett and I have written with this information and perspective to our disciples and ISKCON authorities in Australia asking them to fix our travel schedule now. It seems that we will be all over the country so we will be able to meet very responsible people there, and maybe even do pubishable interviews with them on useful topics. We have done this before and the results is very nice.

Our health is functional. Half the city is suffering from allergy. It is Spring here and of course this is very great problem for us. We are following a strict diet and that has reduced it to manageable level!!

Here we have three major presentations as well as many minor ones. The major ones are Hamlet and Arjuna, the LIght of the Bhagavata, and Socrates and Maharaja Parikshit. The first one was at Universidad Fedorico Santa Maria. Everyone comments that it is the premier Science and Engineering school in the country and as you would expect their Humanities program is very first class and oriented towards practical application. Such brilliant students.

They loved the introduction to Socrates and the death of Maharaja Pariksit. Now it is developing that everyone is very enthused by the idea of next year organizing a big symposium here, and Peru, and USA on the Song of Solomon in the Bible and the Rasa literature of Rupa Goswami. Hamlet, Socrates, Solomon. We have passed through Karma yoga with Arjuna and Hamlet, we have achieved liberation from Socrates and M. Pariksit, but very practically the question is, "What do we do after liberation?" This was no doubt to the Bible Saints nor to Sri Rupa. Here we come to the esoteric life of the soul in Bhava and Beatific States of Consciousness. The response has been very strong amongst students, professors and administrators.

As our chief advisor, what do you think?

Monday we have a private presentation at the National Museum with the Ambassador of Indian and others and there we will present this idea for next year with an international committee.

I guess that is the basic communication. We are winning the battle to stay alive. We are as always very, very busy with individual consulting for disciples and devotees, internet is infernal, our Museum book is progressing by your's and Harsh's mercy, plans for practical NIOS work are progressing . . .

.... we are very involved as Member of the Executive Committee for ISKCON Ministry of Education. It is as disorganized as anything but many very successful programs are developing throughout the whole world. A realistic estimate is that ISKCON now has to serve educational needs of about 25,000 children and youths, alone.

...... our calendar is that we will be in Santiago until 28th. Then two nights in Lima, Peru. Then 5-days in Ecuador, the little country to the North. Then one day in Lima again and then in Tennessee from 8th December to 8th January.

... We will try to fix an exact day to try to reach the Nil-kamal or your cellular at 9.30PM.

..... When we get back to Lima we plan to take the letter of respect for you from San Marcos University in hand and then we deal with it practically from USA. 

Thank you so much. Now have 8-letters to answer if the internet will just co-operate. Seems really is better just to be a Bobba living in a hut in the jungle at the edge of a village and work from there!
