After returning from Rama Navami last friday we watched youtube's Sita sings the blues, a modern rendition of the Ramayana. Are you familiar with that? Nice art, and culturally funny too.

A while ago i learned about the Vatican movie list and watched several of them, including Carl Dreyer's 1928 The passion of Joanne of Arc. I don't know how you feel about that, i found it very heavy to watch. There is a version on Vimeo with classical score, it's so dramatic.

Hare Krishna.

HpS - ASA - AGTSP..... Spiritualizing YOUTUBE.COM is one of the major efforts of the current Hare Krsna movement. Your investigation is certainly wonderful. We saw a more recent Joan of Arc movie. Our final conclusion is that it is like watching a Tamasic or Rajarsic Purana. Many things very nice but also a lot of stuff that makes you feel bad afterwards also.

Links between sudamerican culture and vedic culture

AGTSP!!

PAMHO!!

Hare krsna Maharaja there'is one Russian devotee who lives in Mayapur en she is working on a Russian magazine so ,she has some questions for you in regard to the link between sudamerican culture and vedic culture here goes she posted and some questions thanks a lot ys Ananta Gouranga das

=============

I can say only that I'm doing seva in one Russian vaisnava magazine that is called "Golden Age".
There we're preaching some general things like pure life (vegeterianism etc); good family relationship; including spirituality in our ordinary lives; sattvic art; healthy food and life style habits... Also we tell about Vedic system of knowledge, about reincarnation, we give large quotes from Bhagavatam and from lectures on these topics.
We consider our audience as from teenagers to the 50-years old people, our magazine is for family reading and for putting it on the shelf and coming back to it again and again, not single-use reading. Our edition is distributed by sankirtana on the streets, in trays with free newspapers and among bhakti-vriksa members to introduce Vedic knowledge to their relatives and friends.
So this our material will be dedicated to the connection between Latin America and Vedic culture - as many Russian young people are very interested in some things from South America like tzolkin, ayahuaska and all the shamaniac stuff popular through the books of Huan Karlos Kastaneda. We'll give some parallel quotes from his books and from "Bhagavad Gita as it is" - because there are really many common things.
And what we need is some coherent story about some obvious traces of Vedic culture in Latin America that are left in the language, toponyms and names, in some traditions, in architecture...
I've heard something about pujas with garlands, insences and conches, some fire yajnas which are still held in some remoted places of South America.
And there is information that near Arisona was found a big ancient city built with the principles of varnasrama, that breaks the impression of ancient Indians like the society of hunters and collectors.
Also I heard about some Hanuman temples and swastica symbols somewhere in Brazil. Even about a Sanskrit name of some village lost in the Amasonia jungles.
Moreover there is a story in Puranas about a tunnel through the Earth from Lanka to Brazil by which Kumbakarna imported the gold for his brother Ravana. If it's possible to quote it, it'll be perfect!
Usually there's no documentary proof of such information and no photos - and they would be the priceless material, like sensation for our western minds! In Russia people are used to think that our language has roots from the Sanskrit, and we never think that previously all the Earth had one language.
Also there are some questions more.
- How do the well-known Mayan calendar that "has finished" in 2012 correlate with the Vedic calpas?
- How it could turn that the ancient Vedic civilization with its highest moral standarts (vegeterianism, respect to all the living entities, ahimsa) turned into so cruel traditions right up to the human sacrifices? What influence did ancient American Indians have?
- And one of the most interesting questions: did it happen by the pure accident that aboriginal pop of America became known as Indians? What did Columbus want in India when he started his travelling? And why did he decide that he'd reached his goal inspite of, seemingly, the total difference between India and South America?

HpS - Jaya! AGTSP. We have one book done by a South Indian Brahman when he visited India about 6-years ago. It is the most rigourous that we have seen. Other than that we do not have much specific knowledge about this. We know that there is a "Vedic" ambience in Peru and that attracts, allows, people to appreciate our ideas and benefit from them. The book is in our locker in Lima and we are in Australia. But maybe others have copies. According to one map in the 5th canto everyting below the equator is Patala, no? Then it is not surprising there were human sacrifices for subtle effect. Jarasandha was doing these.

Good luck. Of course, we try to continue to help with news to Ananta gauranga Das, and hope to hear any of this news you have. Arisona is Arizona and is in USA.

The Neo-metropolitano Chapter 2

Radhe Syam jaya bolo Sita Ram!!

AGTSP!!!PAMHO!!!!

Gurudeva it has been a while so I´ll be brief. I got married two weeks ago with a devotee from Florida disciple, of Hrdayananda Maharaja. Also I´m starting to record a devocional album with some spiritual brothers and devotees from Buenos Aires. Learning to be a good person as father, as husband and as a disciple. Hoping you are fine.

I have read in a Gour Govinda Maharaja lecture that says that we don´t have to pretend to see the guru but to be open so the guru sees us. And I want to ask you, what can you see or perceive from me as a disciple.

I want to say to you that as a disciple I want to thank you for your effort of always being generous in your kripa and that I always feel safe in my spiritual life and inspiration for having you as guru.

Trying to improve my japa, service, instrospection and relationship with the devotees.

Jagadananda Pandit das --------► The Neo-metropolitano.

PD: Last year was your Vyasa Puja and my son Radhe Gopinath first year. :)

HpS - Jaya! We have intitated like 315 people! We have hard time remembering anything new at 65-years old! You gotta stick your face in front of us with graphic examples of who you are more often!!! Your Pappa is the wonderful devotee, Jiva Goswami from Gupta Vrndavana.... ????? ... Your son is one year old but you got married two weeks ago. Hmmm? Was son from other marriage? Things seems to be moving fast. That's O.K. but just hang on to those Japa beads. You see Prabhupada's hand in his bead bag all the time, not just during Japa hours. Make some little beads, 25-beads, to keep in your pocket to chant extra rounds. 16-minumum but Prabhupada says, 128 ( 2x64) is nothing. Haw! Haw! HaW. Super good luckn wiht your music and family. Engage them in the service of your Deities!! I got more feeling from you picture, but not enough! Turn up the volume. Remind us who you are! Jaya!! .V. Happy, Hare Krsna!! ! Thank you!! SO much.... All, best regards to your good wife.

All right Gurudev,

As requested, my pettiness placed upon the Warrior Monkeys Blog. Nothing sobers one up than placing their laundry out in the public forum.

ASA - AgtSP! Again, you don't have to say, "My shirt is dirty". You can say, "There is dirty laundry".

What we must do, what we must do. Please excuse my offenses and again thank you for your valauble time

Dear Maharaja Hanumat Presaka Swami,

please accept my humble obeisances, All Glories to Srila Prabhupada!

A meager note updating our scattered progress’ and regress’

We’ve pursued our latest school opportunity and it seems our plans for London have been delayed for some reason, we are still keeping plan“C” for Mayapur in order. We have been invited to a seminar with Maharaja Bhakti Caru Swami in late May and he has some connections in Mayapur dham, we’ll chat then. Our sources in England said work applications for foreigners are withheld due to Britain’s high unemployment (kinda’ like Amerika).

Alternately though, some have mentioned “Australia” also has needs for assistance in their Avanti Krsna schools. Maybe you may have more input on this since you’re in their neighborhood. Oh, if you see Mathuradish Prabhu please offer him my humble obeisance’s.

ASA - Where will the seminar be??? Content???? We hope to keep up with the Blog mail now. We fell sooo far behind with the trip to the North East of India. Now we are just four days behind. We like to be maximum three days. 2) Yes, we saw a poster saying Krsna avanti schools come to Australia. We don't know who is doing it. We can try to ask... But ask from your side as they must know better than we.... 3) We saw Maturadesh. It sure seems that he asked about you and we told him that you Subhra were doing quite well considering all the challenges that we all face in this world.

New Jagannatha Puri has purged another Temple President, our great TP Sunanda has been re-assigned, will miss him (rumor has it he’s headed to the ISV area).I believe Lord Jagannatha is purifying these great souls who try to fill the void in Berkeley’s diverse congregation, why else? Their sincere efforts do not go in vain. Vaisesika Prabhu was kind enough to offer me a chance for NJP’s service, though I declined for now, am not qualified as yet…I think he was kidding…no?! Also at NJP, I’ve been asked to build 3 palanquins for Lord’s Jagannatha & Baladeva with Lady Subhadra. Need your blessings on this one, major task and Ratha Yatra’s coming quick.

ASA - I got a letter from Sunanda Das, and I didn't read the details, but I think he was just tired. When is Rathayatra???? You see the dates for our visit on the ASA calendar, no??? ? ?

Still working at the sign shop and even asked Prabhu Braja-Vraja to help on a special one, he’s way over qualified for his job, probably be happier in a more brahmanical position, regardless he’s receptive and tolerates my dull-self. Do like the artistic side of my job, but not the politics and sudra mentality. Now I’ve gotten all prepared for the computer graphics career field and now have time to possibly complete algebra and a couple of classes for an AS degree. Even Subhra Devi is getting through the insanity in the public schools… why we may as well just stay here in Modesto… Right...my dreams of B.T.G. art and writing, compiling all ISKCON and related illustrations to a single data base for any ISKCON media project; This is what I was BORN for!!

Then a couple of weeks ago Srila Prabhupada came in a dream and said I should “cook”. Now I’m really confused, where is my dharma? Though am even more curious what the Good Lord has planned.

So much approval in your efforts with any who have had your association, all I meet praise your kindness. Max mentioned you and is back in Fremont, Calif with his new wife and is thinking of moving back, met Partha Sarathi Prabhu at ISV during Gaura Purnima and he has relocated to the South Bay for now, he mentioned missing you, I was glad just to talk with them… such great souls we are fortunate to meet, though I too am missing your association.

Seems here in Modesto I tend to reminisce on past mundane activities more and more, though keeping 16 – 4, would prefer closer devotee neighbors, regardless still distributing Srila Prabhupada’s books, with faith that this may continue in an atmosphere more conducive to bhakti.

All for now, need to complete rounds and rest, so much appreciate your tolerance and compassion,

your unqualified servant,

ccd

ASA - Thank you so, so, much. You should be a journalist. Do graphics to sell the things you cook! Have Max help with extreme art design. What about making fortune cookies?????????????????? What about getting an orchard where you are????? Oooof Who is that girl? Dangerous....
