Advise/Suggestion

Hare Krishna Maharaj,

Please accept my humble obeisances, all glories to Srila Prabhupada and Gurudev.

It’s been a while that I came on to the blog and my sadhana is going well. At least I become serious in my chanting (most of the time I’m completing all my rounds in the morning) and my reading become regular.

HpS - ASA -  AGTSP!   paoho.  Wow!    In Kali-yuga this makes you a Saint!!!   AgtSP!

With your mercy and blessings, I took a small step towards preaching and working with SARITA mataji (who is a president of BHAKTI YOGA club in VCU in Richmond, VA) in the Yoga club. We gather every Thursday, chant a round (just started) and go over Bhagavad Gita (As it is)

At present, they don’t have a regular preacher, so I’m attending (our Bhakti Vriksh is providing the prasadam and I’m taking that to club every Thursday) and got an opportunity to talk to these kids and understand their view of life.

So far I gave three classes and attend two (one given by SarvDrik Prabhu)

1.    One is on Yoga (what is Yoga, why, different type of Yogas and what is Bhakti Yoga – touched briefly)

2.    Why do we need to study Bhagavad Gita  and little back ground about Krishna/Arjuna (Maha Bharat – a bit)

3.    What is that we are all seeking (Happiness) – a little bit about senses and their functions and Soul?

We recently conducted a musical concert (Sacred Sounds, different tunes of Hare Krishna and other Kirtans – by Gauravani’s team) in VCU and distributed “Journey of self-discovery and meditation kits (around 200 I believe may be more)

Yagna Sankirtana prabhu (from Potomac temple, DC), who is instrumental in starting this Bhakti yoga club, got the feedback from Sarita and the students and spoke to me and appears like everything is good so far, and discussed about further classes.

Maharaj, at present, they don’t have any particular agenda what to cover etc. in this semester.

Please advise or provide some suggestions (most of them are 1st timers)?

Here is the list that I came up with, after discussing with couple of devotees and in other Yoga clubs etc (Touching on the practical side with Philosophy/spirituality as foundation)

1.    Nature and Modes of Nature

2.    Jiva tattva (self) and Vishnu tattva (supreme)

3.    Time and Karma

4.    Mantra Japa

Please correct or advise me, if I’m wrong or better way of go about this.

Waiting to hear from you…Maharaj.

Your Humble Servant

..........  AGTSP.  So nice to hear from you!!!!  Was wondering what happened to all of you!!!!    Sankirtana result sounds very nice. What about just reading the Upadesamrta together? Going through a little bit each week. Little homeworkd assignment, and Srila Prabhupada's one volume bio-graphy. Those who are more serious can read in detail and then for others there can be a summary each week.

If you base it on those two books it seems it will be nice program.

Then you can also ask questions.

Kirtan, lecture, Kirtan, Prasadam!!

All glories to SS Guru Gauranga

Hare Krsna Guru Maharaja!

I write because I have some questions; - if a devotee, a disciple of a spiritual master from another school, as Vrinda, can take siksa Guru in ISKCON spiritual master?

- If these people can take siksa guru, then, does this person can actively participate in ISKCON, without any problem or not?

I hope your health is better.
Please accept my humble obeisances.

HpS - ASA -- AGTSP.  paoho.  We answered this questions a lot in the letter to Candramukhi Devi Dasi: http://hps.monkeywarrior.com/node/3583
A Siksa guru as we have heard from Srila Prabhupada is anyone who enlivens us in devotional service by citing relevant instructions from the Acharyas or Scriptures. So, there will be many kinds of Siksa-gurus and which one we have depends on our particular spiritual situation. If we are looking to get properly initiated in a bona fide Sampradaya then the Siksa-guru is called Vartmana-pradarsika or Patha-pradarsika guru. He does not have to be an initiated devotee. He can just give us the advice.
In the letter to CMDD we give a lot of other aspects of the question.

Hare Krsna Respected Guru Maharaj,
Please accept my humble obeisances at your lotus feet.
    All glories to Srila Prabhupada.
    All glories to Guru parampara.

Guru Dev, we spoke with our local shiksha Guru to come at Mayapue on Feb 2014. But
he said, he is not sure about this trip (Mayapur Trip in Feb 2014).

we also informed, that you want to see him. then he said, you will speak tough english,
he will not be able to understand it. then we said, we will be with you and Guru
Maharaj speaks easy english. Then he said, will see later.

So advise now, what to do!!

your fallen servant,
Girivaradhari-Gopal Das

HpS - ASA --  Jaya!  AGTSP.  paoho.  Of course, the first advice is "chant Hare Krsna and be happy". Then second advice, natural result is, "Dance and when you are tired take Prasadam". . . . .   . .   .       ......

. . . .     Again, what is name of "local Siksa-guru"?  . .   Forget (65-years old).

. . .    . . .   He thinks it is not good going to Maypur or Vrndavan when we are planning to be there, last week in February?
Maybe he has some good reason!!

your fallen servant,
Girivaradhari-Gopal Das

HpS - You are so fortunate to have taken birth in India. It costs us $1,500 to go to Vrndavana and we don't speak the local language. Your program of events looks very nice. We are thinking of writing to you and Harsh about promoting these NIOS books everyday but we hardly get a breath of time with this flood of education initiatives that are happening here in Houston. Friday we go back to Tennessee and I think things will be a little more sane then.

I cannot think of any more things to do in Vrndavana. Please keep a nice, simple journal of what happens by day and then send it to us after you edit it when you get back to Pune on the Blog here!!
We will send more news soon!

Thank you, respects to all the devotees there!!
