Thanks for hanging in there with me on this important topic!  The simpliest explanation I can come up with is that Gaura Purinama is always the last full moon of the  seasonal (tropical) year which ends BEFORE  the first day of Spring (Vernal Equinox) or BEFORE March 20th  (3/20) of the new calendar year;  the new devotional year begins the day after THIS FULL MOON.

The next projected date for Gaura Purnima as per the calendar produced by Iskcon GBC for the end of this year 526 is Mar 27th, 2013,  which is 7 days PAST  the Vernal Equinox (3/20). THIS IS THE PROBLEM IN A NUTSHELL: One third of the dates we have been celebrating as the Lord's birthday (GP) have been AFTER the Spring equinox. This is a clear No No. The correct date  for Gaura Purnima 526 should be Feb 26th 2013.

I really hope this helps helps clarify the problem and the need for change.

HpS - AGTSP   pamho.   The general idea is a little more clear.   Seems that we are talking about the differences that result from the contrasts with the luna calendar and the solar calendar, no?    For this there is an extra month every few years to put the two in sync.

Have you discussed this with any ISKCON astrologers?   One nice one is Srikara Das [email protected]

I followed his advice and some things are taking better color.
I am applying for a Music scholarship to India, krishna is doing these things, often i acted selfishly with these plans, just thinking about me  but i know, Bhakti music is my goal.
I dont know how to surrender to you dear guruji, my mind today seems like a volcano in eruption, many desires and little kindness.
Im doing the same service in the temple, worship deities, cooking, 12 horas kirtan program(This month we meet ONE year of this program), respectful Vaishnava Sanga, Reading wonderful Vaishnava poems (songs); I have a question in relation to this ¿Can i sing or read about Mira bhai? I know the story and is very devotional.

HpS - ASA -  AGTSP   paoho   Esteemed Mad Man.     Thank you for your letter. All our generla news in the DTC.    Soooo nice to hear from yoiu.        Mira bhai.  I think Prabhupada liked "her" and her songs, but she is just not clear enough to be regular food on the table to ISKCON devotees.

For example, scholars say that there are like six times more songs written by "Mirabhai" after the date of her death than while she was alive.

Hmmm?   See the problem?            Seems she existed and was a nice devotee. Maybe she had some little attachments here and there, but there is no paramapara acharya from her to give her to us clearly. So many of her songs are written by many other people after she left.

So... as general Vaisnava poetry it can be nice. We have to judge it in terms of the Acharyas and in the Temple programs seems Prabhupada thought it not correct. In public cultural programs, even in the Temple, Prabhupada was more liberal.

I only have time for a short response. I realize this is more difficult to explain than I thought it would be but I'll work that out. For now, regarding your last response, sometimes we are celebrating Guara Purnima a month late but not always. This past GP celebrated on 3/8/2012 was the correct date. However, the next one to be celebrated on 3/27/2013 will be one month late.  I will explain this in more detail in my next post.

Mi querido gurudeva, la razon por lo que escribo esta carta es por que recientemente aparecio la oportunidad de ir a argentina a estudiar y como no tengo familiar alguno por alli me agrado muhco la idea de ir y hacer servicio en el templo de argentina y estudiar al mismo tiempo. Lo que estudiare sera economia, en argentina la carrera dura 5 años y aqui en bolivia dura 4.5 años.

Lo que me detiene y proboca que lo reconcidere es que yo vivo solo con mi mama y soy su unica hija y no hay quien la cuide ni la proteja gracias a krsna  ella canta sus rondas y lee el bhagavat gita se asocia con devotos y es aspirante a dicipula de jayapataka swami maharaja,  es correcto dejarla sola?

Por otra parte mis deceos solo estan alrededor de krsna deceo con todo mi corazon hacer sankirtan y dedicarme solo a servir a krsna por completo , claro que me gustaria hacerlo desde ahora pero entendi que debo seguir con mi  dharma circunstancial y terminar de estudiar y tambien complacer a mama , una vez hecho eso me gustaria y deceo sus bendiciones para que se cumpla es el de servir enteramente  a krsna haciendo sankirtan y servicio en el templo  de puyari y ocupar todos mis sentidos solo en su servicio .

Gurudeva ¿que debo hacer ? ¿que es lo correcto? sus instrucciones  y bendiciones son tan necesarias para mi y seguir asi aferrada a los pies de loto de sri krsna, gracias gurudeva por su atencion.

Paoho Is so nice to write from you and to get the responses to our letters. Sorry if we have a persecution complex... Usually there is constant communication on the LABGCforum, so I guess it was not too crazy for us to think we had been removed. Sorry for any confusion. We are just trying to be Fomal in this Sannyasa Ashrama. It came up at this Symposium on Education this weekend here in Radhadesa. Some feel as we do that the formality of Brahminical culture has to develop more in ISKCON. There has to be a class of people who only get involved with politics, money and women in a general theorectical way. So, I agree that you should not discuss details of these legal matters with us. If we can be of use in philosophical perspectives then please let us know. As far as remaining on the LA GBC communication. I think that we can look over the particular political details and watch for things that we should attend to. Is that a good strategy???

We have stomach cramps and chest pains from the pressure. Five airplanes in one week. SYmposium and now Manipura, trying to help after Maharaja's departure.

Then guess the plans to focus more on Chiclayo, our itenarary for the Fall etc. are O.K. We consulte with so many devotees and Juntas! Gave our perspective and got the comment, "So I have to make my own decisions?". Yes, but here is the general perspective. In general our comment was that Jayapataka Maharaja is the central administrative authority in Peru, so people should work their ideas out clearly and when he is there, they can connect with him administratively and personally. Personally we see that Maharaja and our selves have different management styles but there is no conflict if everyone is in their personal line behind Srila Prabhupada!
