Please accept my most humble obeisances

I want a lot of things, because I think I need them and when I have them my life is going to be a little more comfortable, sometimes I make lists, lists of things that I have to buy, lists of things that I have to do, sometimes I think that when I have everything I will not want anything else, but thinking in retrospect that's an illusion, because many times I got the things from my list and I was not happier, I did not stop wishing, I only make new lists with the hope that it is the last and feel the satisfaction of having everything completed.

HpS - When we were first coming to the Temple in San Francisco, we remember reading in Srila Prabhupada's books, that there are an unlimited number of material pleasures and no one can have them all.  When we heard that we became so much less frustrated, tormented. We just relaxed and accepted it. There will be many things which we won't have. A little external satisfaction, peace,  then......    Suprasidati, please ourselves, drink the beverage that quenches the real thirst that we are seeking through Coca Cola, Orange Crush.....

I have countless desires that are to please my senses, sometimes I have other desires, I want to improve in my service, I want to have more knowledge of the scriptures, I want to preach, I want to worship the deities. Only that most of the time I pay more attention to my material desires.

ASA - Madhyama adhikari.

And I think: what purpose does this desire have? None, satisfy it will only give me a temporary enjoyment [which does not only me for a limited time, but also superficial] and I will want something more, then I decide to separate it, not think about it anymore. At other times I can not.

I am very attached to a certain way of thinking, I make plans and when they do not go as I want I go into crisis, even if it is a very small thing, at that moment I remember that Krsna is the supreme controller and everything improves. [NOI 1, manasa vegam...  yukta virodha krodah....    Pleasures of the senses, pleasures of the mind].

Other times I judge others automatically, even without knowing the details, when I realize that I am doing it, I try to think on Krsna. Why am I wasting my time judging others when I can think on Krsna? Only a fool would, sometimes I'm a fool.

Maya is very strong, every day seems like a battle against her, but we are fighting! [And gaining eternal victories].

It is difficult for me to lead with the atmosphere of work, I work in the navy, with 4 officers, of 40, 50 and one of 70 years old, they talk all the time about football, politics, women, bbq, wine. After Mangala Arati I go to work, and the energy difference is usually a bit shocking.

ASA --

• The cow herd boys play foot ball.
• Arjuna was a politician.
• Putana was a woman.
• Pakoras are like Bar-b-cue

I would just sit and listen to Bob Bickford for many years when came to the Sunday Feast. He was a yogi, 15-years older than me, we would talk about things in a pleasant fashion, then one day Krsna used me to just get the message across to him and he said, "Touche". He had to accept what I had said and make an eternal step forward, big one.

On the other hand, maybe we will change our job, get a job with a big German pharmaceutical company selling organice drugs.

I started Bhakti Sastri, I plan to live in the temple until I finish it, I am saving to travel to the Holy Dham.

Following principles, chanting 16 rounds, attending regularly to Mangala Arati.

I can't attended SB Class in the temple because I'm at work. What can i do?

HpS - Adjust!  Use your individual intelligence. Ask others. Read on the bus, go to be earlier, and get up to have class, read, before Mangala arati....  Gotta have protein, gotta have SB in the morning.

I can't connect to starmeeting because my cellphone is broken.

Is it ok if i watch SB Classes online in the afternoon (on YouTube for example)?

HpS - No. Not enough. Need some hearing in the morning.  We adjusted.  Even 10-regular minutes of CC in the morning is better than nothing, but adjust so you have solid time reading, hearing. We had to pass up a good job to keep the hearing and chanting but it was worth it.

I am really sad and worried whenever you post something about your eyes L

Well, all of us are facing different challenges, my mom is so so, even if she looks healthy, her cancer is advancingL, she has lost lots of weight, but she still chants her rosary, prepare breakfast, lunch for us, she is vegan now, well not strictly she sometimes drink some food that contains milk…, but no meat since a long time.

Last Friday she was in the hospital she was bleeding (breast bleeding), she is stable now. We are very worried and sad L. She and I are dreaming with mother Mary, she requests roses, for me is strange the 2 of us has the same dream.

I have mixed feelings.. Nowadays I earn better money than before, more responsibilities, I am learning a lot, but I do not perform much devotional service L, pujari once a month in Wilson, I can not go to chosica maybe in August I will have some free time. I give BS classes and pada Padma for just one student Jiyada Nrismha Prabhu, he is too patient with me. Sometimes I have to suspend the classes

I was very touched by the part of Guru Tattva when U wrote “Not misrepresent Srila Prabhupada”, I have the feeling that I am not doing much, for U for SP, for Krsna L. What can I do to serve U Gurudeva?

I am taking long distance workshops “gem therapist”, my master is teaching us new techniques.

We hope to get some service when U came to Peru on September 24^th. (Art the sacred, or other practical service)

ASA - AGTSP.   paoho.    This world is no more real than a motion picture, Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit... You are watching it while Krsna and the Gopis are looking at you and softly calling, "Candra, Candra", and mildly laughing and smiling. It is so silly, but it happens some times, somebody gets caught by the Bahiranga shakti. It is like one flower in the field of flowers in Goloka. We are staring at it.

"Candra!    Candra!!   Wake up!   !"

Who is your mother, who is your sister, who is . . .    Suddenly Maya hits you with an intense arquitypal image of power and conquest.  She gives you the intelligence to understand how you can quickly rise up and dominate Peru and the universe.

If we are chanting good rounds (four principles strict (full morning program (bhajan, kirtan, SB, Puja))). Then we are Sankirtan devotees. We won't be carried away by Maya's tricks, temptation.

You, your mother,  your sister, your dog, your church, your....    school....    all have to wake up.

         Do it now??

Then we can play with the puppets for Sankirtan. Krsna needs us, now?

Whatever position we are in, by Krsna's mercy, we can preach. Maybe you will preach pantheism, "Isn't the sunshine wonderful today!", or mysticism, "Yes, Ouija boards can really give us valid perspectives!" or monotheism, "Yes, in Krsna consciousness we also see that God is a person", but there is no person who is outside of the perspective of the SB.

Krsna has put you in touch with your family, church, teachers, student et al. Now just become more skillfull at helping them wake up, as fast a possible.

That is the best service we can do.

En Agosto en Brihuega el 29,30 y 31 recibire las clases de discipulado por Jadunanda Swami. 

Quería preguntarte si puedo hacer algo por ti antes de tu llegada a Madrid en Agosto.

Please forgive me for submitting this essay so late. It has been a hectic few weeks with the shutting down of office in SLC and planning the move to Dallas.

ASA - We are worse.   AGTSP!!!   We were told that "hectic" comes from "Hecate", a name for the Devil, Satan, The Evil One. Then Hectic days would be Satanic Days!!!

Thankfully, my brother is here with me for the summer and has been helping me with the move.

HpS - ASA -- Jaya!  What is his name?  Is he an Olympic Wrestler, Bollywood movie star?

We will be visting Boise for the Rath yatra on 4th July and drive to Texas from there. I am so eagerly looking forward to having your association in Boise in August.

I have been chanting my rounds and following the principles strictly. I have also been continuing my  FMP and am currently reading SB 2.5 for my daily SB reading.

HpS - Super!   You are becoming a very useful tool for Lord Caitanya!

My parents have also fixed my marriage date on the 28th October 2018 in Chennai. We need your mercy and blessing to successfully execute the ashrama in Krishna's service.

HpS - I bet you (and your esteemd fiancee) will be very nervous on that day. It is a formality but not a meaningless formality. Is very nice to read the Marriage of Kardama and Devahuti together, with family and friends, and discuss it. Intensely inspiring advice.

VARNA ASHRAMA IN MODERNITY

Krishna says in the Bhagavad Gita that the four divisions of the society are created by Him and it is based on guna and karma. Unfortunately, in the times we live in, the varna system has been deeply convoluted. Instead of looking at the modes of nature in which a person is situated in and the work associated with them, to decide the varna, it is based upon birth. I was born in an orthodox South Indian smartha brahmana family and considered myself a brahmana until I associated with the devotees. In the purport for BG 4.13, Srila Prabhupada writes

“as Kṛṣṇa is transcendental to this system of the four divisions of human society, a person in Kṛṣṇa consciousness is also transcendental to all divisions of human society”. 

We see in our own society in ISKCON that the qualities of a brahmana can be cultivated by anyone who follows the process and they can even transcend it by becoming a Vaishnava.

Guru Maharaja, you always quote Chanakya pandit on getting good advice from many people to make a good decision. I have been getting advice on my nature and how I should proceed from my brahmachary ashram as my parents have been pushing me to get married. The advice I got was to get married and make this the last time. Primarily, it would break my parent’s heart if I don’t get married. I am so attached to them that I cannot bear to see that happen. I have also come to realize that although all the gross material desires are under control, I have so many subtle desires and going through grahastha ashrama will purify me of those desires and make me realize what I sing every day - “Attachment to the lotus feet of the Spiritual master is the perfection that fulfills all desires.”

Thinking about grahasta ashrama and my position, I was reminded of Kardama muni from Srimad Bhagavatam. Although I am nowhere close to Kardama muni’s platform, I know for a fact that grahastha ashrama is going to slow my spiritual progress, I have to go through the ashram one last time and with the awareness, so that such desires are permanently vanquished.

HpS - Hmmm.   Doesn't have to slow your progress. Didn't slow Kardamas. If he had stayed B'cari in his current life he might have come back again to get married.

Kardama Muni prays in SB 3.21.14

Your lotus feet are the true vessel to take one across the ocean of mundane nescience. Only persons deprived of their intelligence by the spell of the deluding energy will worship those feet with a view to attain the trivial and momentary pleasures of the senses, which even persons rotting in hell can attain. However, O my Lord, You are so kind that You bestow mercy even upon them.

In BG 8.28, Srila Prabhupada writes that during brahmacharya, one studies Vedas and undergoes austerities by serving the spiritual master and the result of such education is good character. Hopefully, by Krishna’s mercy, I can take my education during my brahmachary ashram and apply those in grahasthasrama and lead a life centered around Krishna and execute the ashrama as a service by creating a Krishna conscious atmosphere at home and help everyone progress in their Bhakti.

I have been reading Srimad Bhagavatam daily and when I was pondering over the essay, I read the verse 2.3.22. I realized how Srimad Bhagavatam is a living scripture. Srila Prabhupada’s purport is very instructive. 

Especially for the householder devotees, the path of Deity worship is strongly recommended. As far as possible, every householder, by the direction of the spiritual master, must install the Deity of Viṣṇu, forms like Rādhā-Kṛṣṇa, Lakṣmī-Nārāyaṇa or Sītā-Rāma especially, or any other form of the Lord, like Nṛsiṁha, Varāha, Gaura-Nitāi, Matsya, Kūrma, śālagrāma-śilā and many other forms of Viṣṇu, like Trivikrama, Keśava, Acyuta, Vāsudeva, Nārāyaṇa and Dāmodara, as recommended in the Vaiṣṇava-tantras or Purāṇas, and one’s family should worship strictly following the directions and regulations of arcana-vidhi.

He continues to say, 

Engagement in such worship of the Deity, under the direction of a bona fide spiritual master, will greatly help the householders to purify their very existence and make rapid progress in spiritual knowledge.

In due course of time, after the responsibilities of grahastamsrama are done, I will hopefully be purified of my material desires and can become a nice tool for Krishna, so that He can use me full time for His service in vanaprastashrama. Again Kardama muni’s example is a very practical one, where one waits for the time when he can fully dedicate himself towards the service of Guru and Krishna.

HpS - Why wait?   If He wants Krsna can have us run over by a cement truck at any moment and take us directly back to serving in Goloka. If He wants us here then there must be intense service here. G. ashram can be just as much engagement as Sannyasa. Style is different and the formalities are different, but essence is the same, Krsna-bhajan.

Only by your grace can I cross the ocean of material suffering and obtain the mercy of Krishna.
