Hare Krishna Gurudeva

PAOHO AGTSP

I hope you are in good health.

HpS/ASA - Ha! Ha! Ha!!! Jaya Srila Prabhupada!!! I bet our health is about the same as your's and Matajis: This body does not get diseases, this body is a disease.

I'd like to tell you that I completed my Master's degree in Cultural Management after a year and a half. I've finished the courses and submitted my thesis, and all that's left is to present it to the jury in October. It's been a very demanding period, but I believe it's been worth it.

I place this degree and the information I've received at the feet of Srila Prabhupada, hoping to contribute to his mission, although I sometimes think about how little receptivity there is among devotees toward ways of doing things other than the ones they know. Despite that, let's hope there's an opportunity to contribute in some way.

HpS - I sometimes think the same way, but then I think, that even in the secular society, the stuff we are trying to present would receive about the same reception. Intellectual, Masters, usually find that 90% of the world's population just want to survive kind of like bears with the same foraging for food, shelter and a little romance.

Terminator 17.

Son of Terminator.

Terminator Goes to Harvard.

On the other hand, I'd like to begin a doctorate in Humanities and Digital Societies, but it depends on my financial means. Aside from the fact that it's very difficult for me to put aside my interest in studying, earning these degrees represents better job opportunities in the academic field, so, if possible, I will begin those studies at some point.

I'm beginning the study of the Fourth Canto in Bhakti Vaibhava and reading Jaiva Dharma, published by the Gaudiya Math. The latter is a very beautiful book, about which I had little information, and complex as few others. Fortunately, I've found study guides online that will allow me to clarify very profound notions regarding dharma, for example. Srila Bhaktivinoda's literature is deep and written beautifully.

HpS - The only thing is to take these books Parampara. I think it is a Purport in CC where Srila Prabhupada comments that Srila Sanatana Goswami's "Hari bhakti vilasa" upon which our Deity worship and daily rituals are based is unecessarily ritualist, but everyone at that time were mostly Smartas and so he had to go with the flow of the time.

So, if we have good life in the words of our Acharya, then we can understand the works of the previous Acharyas.

I was looking at Narayana Maharaja (One Gaudiya Matha)'s translation and commentary on one very key verse and comparing it to Srila Prabhupada's and they both had like seven citations in their purports and five were the same, but Maharaja's perspective was tinged toward the importance of Second Initiation where as Srila Prabhupada's was toward the sufficiency of HariNama Diksa.

In my few spare time, I continue translating Dimensions of Good and Evil by H.H. Suhotra Swami. You mentioned that this is a third category service, which made me think that this is the kind of service I can do, at best.

However, Indira Sakti dd and I will go to Chosica on Janmastami to begin the photographic and documentary record of the temple. I hope to interview devotees of the pujari (Ramasundarya das and Vindhyavali dd) and compile material to present it on a digital medium for the service of devotees.

HpS - Very nice. I think that there are many Catholic people who would also like to see the contrast and comparison with their own religious life.

I say goodbye, reiterating my best wishes for your well-being.

Gandharva das

HpS/ASA - Seems to us that Srila Prabhupada was always emphasizing, though not singularizing, village based media.

We have seen that village based technology, like puppet shows, can reach a very high level of technical sophistication, but use local materials, generational family traditions.

We heard Prabhupada commenting that television was not necessary for common people. Maybe two, three dozen televisions in the whole world, I guess for Ksatriyas or something.

Please Gurumaharaja, always accept my obeisances at your lotus feet🙏🏻👣🌺🌷🌹🪷🌸

HpS/ASA - Please accept our obeisances at your lotus feet. Of course, maybe you have lotus pesunyas in your siddha svarupa!

I also find this song very beautiful, so much so that I uploaded it to the channel. I hope you like it:

ASA - Did a LOT of work to mix it with clips from the "Little Krsna" movie. It seems to be philosophically correct but cannot know for sure because is in Hindi, no?!

In the previous video, you're right. I see a part where the music is sung, but it's not subtitled. But for me, when the music is so beautiful, any editing flaw loses importance. The joy of listening to this music is so great that it fills everything.

Situated in Krishna Consciousness

Hare Krishna, Siksha Guru Maharaja, please kindly accept my most humble obeisances; all glories to Srila Prabhupada; all glories to your good self for your own exemplary years of selfless devotional service; all glories to all the devotees of Lord Chaitanya.

My rounds are done this morning, and Bhagavatam class from Hawaii will commence soon. It's only now that I am able to find time to write some thoughts.

My mind is still occupied with recollection of your most recent visit to our home here in Boise.

As I had mentioned during prasadam, your association, along with the association of the other devotees present at that time helped to make our home into an ashrama once again.

It brought back memories very nice programs of hearing and chanting and prasadam with devotees very kindly blessing our home with their association.

Now it seems like we are strangers to them: the same Vaishnavas who were always welcomed to our home.

It's so painful that I can't really put it into words, and I'm trying to understand how it came to this.

I try to chant nice rounds every morning: sitting quietly in front of my altar, with my ears plugged for amplification between the ears, with incense burning, and some quiet flute meditation playing for ambience.

I feel very lucky to have such an domestic environment for my devotional service. A couple of Bhagavad gitas went out this week to passengers. One was a successful gentleman who seemed really lost in his life. He gave an extremely generous tip for accepting Bhagavad gita. The other was a girl who had an emotional breakdown, and seemed to be somewhat disoriented, as if under the influence of some drug.

She happened to see a copy of Bhagavad gita and asked if she could have it. I took it as Krishna saying "give it to her," and so I did. She was very grateful whilst she continued crying.

There is so much more that I want to share; so much more that needs to be said, but I fear that I will annoy you with a long drawn out letter. I can see from my own practical experience how my whole spiritual existence is dependent on the shelter of the spiritual master. Please kindly forgive me for my many offenses. Please don't give up on us: my wife and I. How should we live, where shall we go and what should we do if we lose such kindness, shelter and mercy?

Your lowly servant,

Balabhadra dasa

HpS/ASA - AgtSP. Dhrtarastra was painted as a very nice person in many ways, but he had some bad results from previous activities. Karna was also a great person. Krsna glorified him in front of Arjuna after he died, no?

In some aspects I feel that we are all pushed by Krsna to realize the He is our only friend.

Every other friend is just a friend in that relation to him.

Lettuce look at another Blog Post.

Devendra Krishan das

HpS - AgtSP. Please accept OUR humble obeisances. As we have said before we have felt rather embarrassed about this. Yes, the hearing aids do work well. Yes, there are cheaper ones available but the medical professional devotees here affirmed this arrangement quite firmly.

Guaranteed for like 5-years and expect they will last for seven. Maintenance and further test is included in price.

Pray to God that the devotees all get proper benefit from their investment!

I guess everyone would want you to just keep the balance for other Anjana Suta Academy expenses that we all agree upon.

Maybe some publishing etc.

Becoming a Diksa guru in ISKCON

1 month ago by hps in Special Category B

asa[e] guru-tattva

One of our initiated disciples has been approached by local co-gbc secretary of his country and region to take on the role of a Diksa guru in ISKCON.

We have been asked to approve of this.

We have had some very productive discussion with the GBC man and the disciple and committed to writing this document.

For us Guru-tattva is an unlimited, ever fresh topic. Lord Nityananda, Balarama, can be taken as the original Gurus (although we have read Srila Prabhupada commenting that Lord Caitanya is the spiritual master of all spiritual masters).

Lord Balarama is unlimited and ever fresh.

So, for us Guru-tattva is a very pragmatic reality. It is not a matter of sentimental speculation nor imaginative ecstasy, rather practical activity in the foreground of spiritual life.

We follow Srila Prabhupada as Diksa Guru by chanting 16-enthusiastic rounds daily and following the 4-principals strictly; taking formal initiation from him according to the process of probational time period, GBC standards, fire sacrifice, beads, name etc; and anyone following us following Srila Prabhupada is a qualified ISKCON Diksa Guru.

To be Diksa guru for Harinama, Gayatri and Sannyasa Diksa, you must have received the Mantras properly and be practicing those ashramas yourself.

You will be the only Diksa guru for the disciple. Srila Prabhupada is Founder-Acharya for everyone in ISKCON. If you are not an Uttama adikari then the people you are initiating must have personally accepted Srila Prabhupada as an Uttama adhikari guru. Disciple may and most naturally will have many Siksa gurus, but of course they cannot conflict with your relationship with disciples as Diksa guru. Usually the principal Siksa guru becomes Diksa guru, though as in the case of Dhruva and his Mother Suniti, this could not become the case because she was a woman and his mother. So, as Diksa guru you will most likely be a principal siksa guru, but maybe not.

From very practical experience of doing the job for many years, talking with and seeing others do the job, and now seeing younger men take up the job, we can now see and suggest within the perspective of the Bhaktivedanta Library and Purports a few things.

Of course, we do not think we are perfect and want to hear the suggestions of others.

Again it is a deep, every fresh topic.

  1. It is a formality, though not a meaningless formality. Anyone who does any ritual sacrifice for another eg. marriage, funeral, diksa takes Karma. Are you ready, young enough, strong enough, healthy enough to do this?
  2. We really think it is a job to be performed between like 40 and fifty years old.
  3. Ideally one should have their Bhakti vaibhava diploma for giving Harinama diksa, and their Bhakti vedanta Diploma for Gayatri diksa.
  4. Advanced grhastha couple should take vanaprastha.
  5. Wife should be fully enlightened and agreeable to the role.
  6. One should should contemplate accepting Guru daksina and Vyasapuja worship. In our experience Srila Prabhupada even approved of pious householders washing the feet of Brahman ISKCON devotee guests if the devotees accepted this honor, and had the strength to take that responsibility for their hosts, but make your ideas and application of these formal honors public.
  7. If you are proposed for this job, talk with at least six other senior devotees for their opinion and approval. Look at your Yatra and make up a list of people whom you feel are as good as or better qualified to do the service to ISKCON than you.
  8. Become a qualified Siksa guru, even taking the diplomas established by Srila Prabhupada, then you can accept Shiksa disciples, even giving them advice about who, and how, to accept and reject as Diksa guru. We see this as a much more natural position and formality for ladies than Diksa guru, though ladies becoming Diksa gurus is not forbidden in our tradition, as is Sannyasa or wearing a sacred thread.

Thank you.

Hope this is useful for Srila Prabhupada and his ISKCON.

HpS/ASA - - Hare Krsna. AgtSP. Of course, all sincere ISKCON devotees are feeling pressure to study Srimad Bhagavatam with Lord Caitanya as our teacher, and this is a dynamic situation.

We must be improving our Bhagavata Sanga and system, responding to the changing environment and our personal development!

😃
