Caturthi - Update on reading

4 years ago by sugopiradha in Special Category B

Hare Krishna, respected Guru Maharaja!

Please accept my humble obeisances.

All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

I am continuing my reading of Jung. Since I wrote to you last, the theme that struck me the most was Jung's reluctance and dislike of accepting religion blindly.

He was willing to think through the difficult questions of life and wanted to find religious solutions for them, but hardly anyone in his environment wanted to engage in a critical inquiry on religious matters, especially his fathe.

Though being a religious leader in their local church, due to having serious doubts himself, Jung's father did not wish to engage in deep religious discussions with Jung.

Instead, Jung's father preferred to take the route of "blind faith," to which Jung had a strong aversion (73).

HpS - Which Jung says later caused him to die an early death from emotional exhaustion, no?

When reading this, I was reminded of a quote by SP that you often cite, guru maharaja. In his purport to BG 4.34, SP says, "...blind following and absurd inquiries are condemned." Here, SP authorizes Jung's instinct not to take up faith blindly.

Ultimately, Jung's genuine (rather than absurd) theological questions and his striving to engage in religion with critical thought demonstrated to me his great qualification to be put in conversation with Srila Prabhupada, as you propose in several of your classes.

HpS - Through Prabhupada with Rupa Goswami and very especially with Srila Bh. Siddhanta. Jung was one year younger (Junger ??) than BhS!

Thank you, guru maharaja, for your constant mercy and guidance.

Your insignificant servant,

Sugopi Radha Devi dasi

HpS - ASA - Hope other can enter these discussions. Seems like part of our DTC - UT.

Vedabase - The Nectar of Devotion - Raganuga errors

4 years ago by srinivasacarya in Other

Hare Krishna Guru Maharaja,

Please accept my humble obeisances at your feet. All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

In the online vedabase, there are some references to rAgAnugA bhakti such as the ones in this paragraph: https://vedabase.io/en/library/nod/15/#bb1207073

They should actually be rAgAtmikA. I have a hardcopy of the Nectar of Devotion that is printed in Taiwan in 2009 which shows correct information. I also checked in BBT desktop version of Vedabase and it has the correct information.

My more than decade old personal notes that I took when you taught us Bhaktisastri also talks about this error in older editions. Seems Prahlad Nrsimha prabhu is using older version and I hope he sees this and loads the newer one.

Your insignificant servant

Srinivasacarya dasa

ASA - Thank you so, so much. As we know, he is using the Texts given to him by the European BBT. I don't know how much control he has on making editing corrections, but they do hand him updated stuff. Is there is a Contact Us link on the Website?

Is very important correction!!!!!!!!!

.Krsna Krsna,

. Krsna Krsna,

Krsna Krsna,

. Krsna Hay!

TB/BW, here!

🐵... 🐖

🐷

. . . . We are Fly Ing, the Ship!!!

HpS is resting, writing Cookie Fortunes, on Banana Leaves.

We thought about distributing a book today!!!

. . . To a really robust guy who walked by on the river-bank in front of our shack, cave, tree-house.

He waved back at our, 'Hello', but that's about as far as we got.

We also got 50-one ounce bags of Mr. P-nut prasada to pass out.

Well, when we got up, like 99% of our Hay Fever was done??!!!

We've only sneezed one time today.

Little eye/nose burning, dripping, but Hmmmm? Gone.

. . . [Throat little inflamed]

Rupa-anuga Whatsapped that we should go to Peru immediately and stay with him and he would cure us of all diseases, and that he did a subtle healing last night for us.

Hmmmm!!!!! Science and the Vedas??? He is a Shaman???

-0-0-0-

Jaga-mohan, Brajavasi, invited us to come to Vrndavana again.

😩 😬 😲

We told him we are in route through the deepest, darkest jungle of Peru (where Paddington grew), picking up animals to join our crew, and Spain, and Texas, (and Boise)... ?

Seven different people Whatsapped us that Umberto Mathurana left his body.

Rodrigo, the Sur-realist poet, helped us organize a program on Jung and the Bhagavata at the second best cultural museum house in Santiago and Umberto came with three more people, everyone stopped talking and looked at him and started whispering .

Afterwards we met the widow of an ambassador who knew Jung and wrote a really good book about his and other meetings, and he had been family friends of Ramon Mujica... and Prof. Mathurana asked us to visit his Institute the next day with five our six associates and plan to stay for a few hours.

We learned a lot from him.

If anyone thinks it is important and wants to feed us grapes, we can tell more.

. 🍇 🐦

Then we talked with Rama-giridhari Das, after morning nap... for about 30-minutes.

He will investigate marketing our NIOS books through Motilal Varanasi Das. Send me a copy of the direct to University, scholars, promotional list that we have.

Says we need a student to stay in the Hill Crest-Ashrama.

Wants to go to Peru with us.

Will work with us on registering NIOS for the June 17-20th MOE Panamerican/World Education Symposium.

Work with Aja govinda Das (Prof. Ayus) on a NIOS/Texas A&M symposium on Science and the Vedas in which HpS (Prof. HHR) will join as indicated by the relevant YouTube lectures.

Etc.

Then, joined WWW.e-sanga.org and heard 1/2 of Nara-hari Das SB class on Puranja flirting with Maya Devi. Touched our heart with his depth, sincerity, scholarship. We gave a few comments along with Jaya Jagadisha and Vidagdha Das. Challenged us to be better devotees

AGTSP.

Then, FNP - Bath, laundry, Raja Bhoga (we are being 90% strict [and guess be much more Sattvic] to keep alive a few more years)

Then after another nap, joined NgD and VN for a walk/talk, but called ArtDas and talked to him the whole time about calendars, etc.

Then then a thundershower hit us and we had to run back to our base and cars and come home.... and ... cooked evening Bhoga (tea with milk and sugar) and write this DTC.

Wow!

We are behind on our rounds, but keeping count and catching up

We also watched YouTube historical video, among men I am the monarch.

Now we will run to the 8PM Radha Nabara program. .... and Tweet! Thank you. Hope to hear from you.

Suggestion for a Distinguished Lecture Series on "Science and Vedanta"

4 years ago by aja.govinda in Calendar Development

Dear Guru Maharaj:

Please accept my sincere regards and obeisances unto you, NIOS, Srila Prabhupada, and all our Acharyas.

HpS - !!!! -[;0]/\___

As I am currently working as an Assistant Professor, faculty of Texas A&M University in the Kingsville, I have hosted and chaired conferences and facilitated seminars.

I have been working on developing a Distinguished Seminar Series on Science and Vedanta as part of my faculty position job. I have been developing this in collaboration with professors from universities in India and around the world.

In that role I wanted to request you to please kindly consider if it is possible for NIOS members to pursue an academic collaboration with the Texas A&M, Kingsville and Vedanta organization of this university, on establishing a Distinguished Virtual Seminar (webinar) series on Science and Vedanta.

NIOS members Amit Prabhu, Srinivas Acharya Prabhu, and Rama Giridhari Prabhu have expressed interest in this and are interested to form a sub-committee to create a proposal for such a seminar series and eventual conference.

If possible, I can work on developing a dedicated web page and posters. We can invite guest speakers on an online virtual meeting platform and host seminars and webinars all online with student and faculty participants from multiple universities across the world (South America, North America, Indian subcontinent).

This could later be extended to be a virtual conference with proceedings and publications, inviting faculty and students to present papers and publish their papers in the NIOS Solaris journal.

The reason I suggest this is because I have previously organized virtual conferences in which I am a local chair in the field of science and education and also part of a distinguished virtual seminar series hosted by my department, through which I gained experience in hosting these online.

NIOS has great many contributions and publications in the field of theology and religion and education, and this would be an effort to further extend these contributions into the science and education fields and disciplines.

Please consider this as a suggestion for a request to consider a possible academic collaboration between NIOS and Texas A&M, Kingsville.

Thank you,

With my sincere regards,

Dr. Ayush Goyal

Assistant Professor

Texas A&M University - Kingsville

HpS - Thank you, Sir! We hope that our ASA members who have interest and ability in these areas will join us.

I would say that, Yes, certainly we, HpS, ASA, can join and help. Go ahead with the NIOS committee and post some results and messages here are and we can develop it.

We are consolidating our efforts in "Science and the Vedas, Interfaith Dialog, The Bhakti-vedanta Library, World Classical Literature" through a series of on-line PPTX that we have done. They are being posted at our YouTube Channel - asa audio visual. The IFD are up and some others but I think the Science and the Vedas are not yet edited and posted.

These are areas where we can contribute, but as the dialog develops we might be able to contribute in other areas.

We look at ourselves as pioneers, researching possible areas of benefit in these dialogs. So, we did not go into great detail. That is for others.

So, please go ahead with the NIOS committee. Let us watch for the YouTube extracts of our, HpS/ASA, possible contributions, and if we can facilitate more please write again!!!

Nuestra docotor.

Y ya la munyeca derecho en dolor. 🙂

Pienso es misma para Vds

Hare Krsna, Hare Krsna.

Sorry for our slowness, we are editing the DCT videos. Sessions 1 and 2 of the Inter-fe dialogue are now available at Asa Audiovisual. The third is on the way.

https://youtu.be/XeLUKBeYDAg

HpS - ASA --- We have a lot of room for improvement, but we can only pray that sincere people will tolerate the lower quality to get the message. I think the originals are still at GoToMeeting. I will try to send you the links by Whatsapp again.

https://youtu.be/cvFSNtjwu3Y

We added a little animated introductory title, please let me know what you think about it.

HpS - Best part of the show!

Regarding the quality of the video: we noticed that the files downloaded from Facebook Asa Carnaval have lower quality than those from GoTomeeting. It is not something we can improve now, but in future videos. I also think that the quality is acceptable. Can you send me the PPT? to the WhatsApp of Ambarisa or to asaudiovisual.....com. I've been searching jayarama.us but couldn't find them.

HpS, TB/BW - We just sent the PPTX to your gmail. There are two more wcl, wold classical literature, but I don't know if we used those?

We also sent the View link to Ambarisa Das's Whatsapp and the GTM Account Name and Passcode. Maybe you can log-on and access stuff directly. Didn't work last time.

Also, we downloaded the first IFD show and then tried to send it by We Transfer. Files sent to

asaudiovisual. . . com 1 item, 415 MB in total ・ Expires on 12 May, 2021

About the language on the YouTube cover: Most of the presentations are bilingual, the animated introduction in the videos is bilingual, but when designing the cover of each of the videos (which is seen as a thumbnail on the Asa channel) The text is very long if I include both languages. So I did them in Spanish. Does this sound good to you? or should they be in english?

HpS - I think English with with little note "Bilingue", no? It is more global language.

Thank you very much Gurudev for your infinite patience and care.

Thank you for engaging us in service.

Vrsabhanu Nandini dd

HpS - ASA - We are pigs, dogs, monkeys and asses trying to be of some service to Guru, Gauranga and Devotee!!!

Such a nice movement.

=-=-=-=-=

Looks for the Dead

ABC writes:

Dear Maharaj, I also wanted to share something. In the recent past i have experienced twice forseeing someone passing away. Within 2-3 weeks of me experiencing this, that person does pass away. But I can see this for only few people, not everyone. What am I supposed to do with this knowledge? Do I caution the person so they can prepare themselves? I'm very confused about what is the purpose of me knowing this if I'm not to help in some way? 🙏

Your aspiring servant,

TB/BW write:

Hare Krsna. AgtSP. We don't know? Have to ask the person who sent the knowledge, no? Carl Jung says he saw that is physician was might die and tried to convince him of his danger, be careful, but his doctor just "Poo, Pooed", him and said, "Now, there, there, Carl. You have been in a lot of stress with this heart attack, so you might have these halluciations". Then like two weeks later his doctor died.

Hmmmf. Hare Krsna. I don't know? Try to give some advice. Preparation. CMDD has a similar comment in here letter today.
