Ok, got it now!

Dear Guru Maharaj,

Pamho agtSP!

Ok, I didn't know where to find your reply to my report. The situation with my recommendation is explained in my other letter. Svavasa prabhu has probably been too busy with the marathon to reply right away, we kept on until New Years!

In LA, we've been finding book tables very successful lately. People respect us more, take more books, and give bigger donations. It takes less of a toll psychologically, so I'm thankful. Svavasa prabhu has big plans for next year, and I'm looking forward to helping out. There's other strategies I'd like to try eventually but I'm indebted to New Dwarka. Ideally I would like to bring in another 10 brahmacaris more qualified than myself before moving on (if I ever do), so I've been thinking about how to accomplish this.

Meanwhile: If you were curious, most of us use American clothes on sankirtan. I just got some nice new threads from a thrift store but I try to keep it simple. Two pairs of temple clothes two pairs of sankirtan clothes. It's funny you mentioned Clint Eastwood; I usually go business casual with a straw hat, and devotees say I look like him. Sometimes I showdown with my roommate, Prema Sankirtan.

Let me think of one short story: A few days ago I was at Santa Monica Pier. An older fellow who took a book from me the day before asked me to tell him more about the Bhagavad Gita. So I said something like "The Bhagavad Gita is the most widely read classic on eastern philosophy; it's the climax of the Mahabharata, which is the most expansive epic in ancient history. It's 8x the length of the Iliad and the Oddysey combined and forms the substrate of a very sophisticated ancient civilization. This was a favorite of Albert Einstein, Schopenhauer, Voltaire, Gandhi..." Just then another gentleman approached, so I explained to him "You may have heard of this one, it's called Bhagavad Gita. It's basically the original encyclopedia on yoga. It gives a whole overview of this ancient culture of transcendence. Basically it teaches that real happiness doesn't come from material things, it comes from inside the soul." He asked me "are you a Hare Krsna?" And I replied that I was a monk from the local temple. He said he always wanted to chant with us in London so I invited him over. He asked me if I read the book and I explained how it completely changed my life. He gave a donation looking very satisfied and went away, so I finished up with the initial conversation. I told him "There are over 600 translations of Bhagavad Gita and this is the most widely read edition around the world. This has Sanskrit transliteration, English, commentary, and it explains how this has been understood and practiced within the tradition going back to the original author." I showed him the pictures of Prabhupada and Vyasadeva. It's like a user's guide so it enables you to take this knowledge and do something with it in your life. I glorified Prabhupada a bit and explained about how it was a multigenerational, international project. He gave another donation and went away with a big smile. Wished him a happy new year, said "May the Source be with you!"

My style is that I tend to focus on quality over quantity. I'm not that funny or charismatic, but I'm kind of a nerd, so I can get into it a little with people if they're on the level. I've been discussing with my sankirtan leader (Brghupati Prabhu) about trying a more focused approach here in LA for a while. I've heard that Svavasa prabhu is less enthusiastic about the traveling program lately because it is expensive, and it's a challenging austerity for newer devotees. The current temple commander just changed ashrams and he's spread a little thin, maybe I could assist him. I've been dealing with some pretty intense depression symptoms lately so I think being near the temple for a while might be good for me. (It's something I've had practically my whole life. Although I haven't been medicated in years and I've gotten much better, I'm still not completely liberated yet.) My idea is to choose one or two schools and go there every single day with another devotee, set up a table, and have little prasad for people to take, and Kirtan at the end. I want to establish relationships, meet professors, start Bhakti clubs, turn people on to some of our projects, and hopefully make tons of new sankirtan devotees.

Ys,

Bhakta Eric

HpS - Thank you so much for the letter. We suffer from depression symptoms. Any sane person in the material world does, no?   Of course, Radharani also has depression symptoms, no?

Your report sounds great. I got the other letter also. Yes, the Annual Report goes into a specific box, I think you sent it there later, then our response to that is not published, but your report didn't strike us at all as private. It was very nice example. The more we see the faces of other devotees, the more we become inspired.

Your plans sound great.

Just seems you have to stay in touch with local friends etc and you can see what plans are clear, no?

It is 3.37AM. One big letter done to India, 8-rounds, TLC, now bath and Puja.
Tomorrow we are being carried away to India.

Hare Krishna Guru Maharaja!
AGTSP!
pamho!

Dear Gurudeva, please let me know how is your stomach health.
I recibed the answer of my annual report.
I want to ask about the last part of your answer say: "Let's get ready for taking very good vows of increased service at Vyasapuja. Experiment now, so that we can be sure that we can do them." Please Guru Maharaja, let me know how can I increase my service.

My obeisances to your feet.

Your servant

HpS - Thank you. I don't know how you can specifically expand. For example, you might expand your service to Prasadam by not eating grains in the evening, so that your can digest easily and get up full of energy earlier. Something like that. Think about what you need to do. Such nice pictures.

I got the response!!!

Dr. Samaresh Report

Good morning, Professor, Hare Krsna,

It is 2.45AM here, Sunday, 3rd January. We have chanted 8-Japa malas and read a little bit from Ramananada vadanam in Caitanya Caritamrta. Sri Ramananda Rai is explain the position of Srimati Radhika to Lord Caitanya. Very interesting and awe inspiring for us.

It is minus two degrees Centigrade and we have moderate stomach pains. We had to fight with water pipes rupturing from the cold for about three hours yesterday. We won. The water lost.

Dr. Ravi mentioned that they are probably, mostly stress.

Since we last talked we have been working on the Peru psychology symposium, and these programs for education in ISKCON, Bhakti-sastri, Bhakti-vaibhava etc. We have done five Power-point shows for the first Canto in five weeks. They are available with audio on the internet and we would be very enthusiastic to send you’re the link if you could listen to them.

We will send the synopsis of our presentation for the journal, “Solaris”, which will also be our proposed presentation for the symposium under a separate cover.

Tomorrow, Monday, 4th we leave for one month in South America. Of course, things have been becoming more and more hectic as last minute requests and appointments file in. There can be a fair amount of politics in ISKCON, but also the trip is getting packed up with education programs.

I read your letter about your travel: Delhi, Bangalore, Delhi. Our “Vyasapuja, birthday party” will be the 11th in Chile.

We are supposed to sit with Ramon Mujica, Director of the National Library and Eduardo Gastalemundi, past President Peruvian Psychiatric Society and current President Peruvian Freudian Society et al, on Tuesday. They are fixing participation in the Symposium and the very good news is that Beverly Zabrienskii, President of the New York Jungian Society, and co-founder of Philemon Foundation with Prof. Shonu Shyamdasani is very enthusiastic to come for the Symposium.

They are very enthusiastic for your visit but are feeling very nervous now because the Conference is focusing on psychology and your extreme expertise is history and archaeology. So, one suggestion now is that I come back again to Peru in the Fall and then the National Museum organize a program based around your visit at that time. This seems much more practical to Radhika since the USA schools will be in full session at that time also.

I will try to call you tomorrow, Monday so this letter has time to reach you also.

Thank you so very, very much for any attention you can give to our feeble efforts and of course our respects to all.

DTC 31(Th)

AG AG TSP.   Paoho.   12.25PM.   Typical grey, cloudy, day in Hell. The big tin, grey, black, white (red) iron asses run by in the street just beyond our window.

Cold. Not a human being, animal, bird in sight.

Maybe our stomach will be our friend, smile and dance with us.

Where do these iron asses, digesting poisonous oil, carry their passengers? I think to miserable places to do miserable things.

Oooof.  What a bad place.  {{{Music is here. Nimai and His gang are roaming around Nadiya looking for fun. It is a part of Vraja.}}}

Get on the inside.

We want to get a hand-push lawn mower. The gasoline one never starts!  Only $70, but you have to use it weekly and actually we are leaving Hillcrest Drive tomorrow for Franklin. Then a month in South America. A week back here. Then two munths in India and Europe. Then a munth here, then two weeks in Boise and Mexico. No time to use a hand-push mower.  So sad...

... Then South America, June...  After that we may be here. July, August, September...  ...   ..  ...

I think Donald Trump may start a nuclear war. If he does, very nice! We won't have all this head ache of preaching. We can just all sit down and chant Hare Krsna and slip out of our current bodies and be with Krsna in Goloka, carrying lunch bags and herding hundreds of own cows etc.

Of course, if He has a mission in this world and wants us here, then, there is no better place.

We are tired. Want to answer Lalita-gopi's letter on Yahoo. Do our last PdP, PPTX for Saturday. Chant seven rounds+++. Call Houston. Go walking with NGD [Have BG class].  Dissolve our gross body. Study Sanskrit at www.loftylearning.com. Rest and read 1958 science fiction stories from Galaxy Magazine (this is Monkey's idea). Look at Annual Reports. Print up some. Little NOI size note-books....

We wonder what Cakori, Radha-caran, Sataksi, Tungavidya et al are doing in Vraja. It seems harder to find Vraja in Vraja than to find Vraja in Tennessee in some ways. Kali yooga!

How is Yugala?

Was so nice to get the nice letter from USA Prahlada-nrsmha Das. We got and confirmed the exact flight, AMS> MAD, BAR> AMS.   We live half our life in moving vehicles.  Ha!      Ha!      Ghaugh!

[[[Yes, we are just indulging in Free Writing and suggested by Satsvarupa Goswami.]]]

Hare Krsna.

Amazing.

Life is funny. If you are in the mode of goodness.

Thank you Srila Prabhupada.   We are really trying to help Radharani, Sita, get out of the fix She has got Herself into. If She had just listened to Laksman, none of this would have happened, but of course, then there would be no chance to eliminate Ravana. Sita, Draupadi, had to be insulted to give the demons good cause for being snuffed by the Lord!

Every stupid thing that happens. Every senseless iron motor car, is being sharply watched by higher souls, with care for precisely little shoves be made to head the servants back to home, Gopal.

Get with it!

Lots to do, numbskull!

(Even Duryodhana was serving God)
