OINK!! (Only Idiots Neglect Krsna)

We are dog, hog, tired. 9.09PM. Hawaii Class, Edited Miguel's 'Solaris' paper in English, 16-rounds done by 10AM. Quick phone call to Srivasa Pandita Das, and then a ton of Texts etc for this Chicago etc tour.

Also, tried to do a little three verse extract of the LoB for distribution. We aren't the body, VAD is necessary to cultivate KC, Vraja is the ultimate goal (and NOI is the next book to read). All in the three texts.

O.K.
Better to stop now or die.

Eating once a day is an intense austerity for our body, but also very purifying.

We are reading http://www.jayarama.us/archives/vdm.doc Hare Krsna. Nice lunch offering for Lord Nrsmhadeva.
Whoop!

Thank you.

DC calander - sunday talk

Hare Krishna Maharaj,

Pamho. AgtSP.

So the temple president of DC has a few points that are outlined for Sunday talks. She likes to gear the speakers toward more unfamiliar audiences (we have a pretty big yoga community here). I was going to email this to you because she and VrajVihari would like to be cc’d on it. But I explained and gave her a brief synopsis of Psyhology and the Sacred and she was thrilled to hear it.

The talk is limited to 30 min with an additional 15-20 min Q&A period.

She did say that the Saturday prior will be open if you would like to host a workshop or lecture of any sort? Please let me know if this is something you’d like to consider.

HpS - You me and NGD just talked about this. "From Cradle to Cambridge - Education in ISKCON. Hanumatpresaka Swami has a long history of working int the area education in ISKCON which include deep involvement with H. H. B. S. Damodara Swami and the Bhaktivedanta Institute, Ranga-niketana - Manipuri Troupe. He is on the Executive Committe of the ISKCON Ministry of Education, and with his own ISKCON institution, NIOS, he has just participated in a profound, intercontinental symposium on Psychology and the Sacred with the National Library of Peru.

He will also report on Sunday school commercialy successful ISKCON Pre and Primary Schools etc. Come for general overview and opportunity to get involved in very practical programs.

Currently we have UMD lined up for 11/11. I’m not familiar with the school but they have a strong bhakti club and I’ll reach out to profs who may try to stage something bigger.

HpS - Let him see our youtube.com clip of "Psychology and the Sacred 2016", then we can talk with him personally and design a custom program.

Awaiting to get contact of hindu chaplain from Georgetown. He himself has a doctorate in theology so may be a good source of reaching out to dept.

HpS - Again, follow up NGD suggestion of contacting his friend, Dr. Shaligram Shukla in Sanskrit.

Will keep you updated!

*just to clarify—when I send a group text, you can see them right? Cause subala prabhu hasn’t responded either.*

HpS - When you send a group Text we only see your name and when we respond it only shows you as a recipient. Hmmm. Robots for Rama.
Thank you so much for your effort.

Kartik nearing

Hare Krishna Maharaj,

Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupad. All glories to you!

I pray that your health gets better. Your last DTC made me sad but puts into perspective the vehicle that this body is.

I did get the email about themes and content. Ananda Vrindavan mataji said she’d schedule you for the Sunday talk at Potomac, so I guess Vraj Vihari prabhu would best answer in regards to the themes.

Chandana and I are working to put an event at Virginia commonwealth university. we sent you an email to your nios account regarding that.

In other news, I also asked Manoram Krishna das to perform the diksha yagya and he said yes and also told me of what I should bring and do to prepare. I was wondering if there is anything you expect that I should do in preparation as well? Please let me know and I will do my best to make it happen!

HpS - Nothing special.

I am still pondering what I should do for my kartik vrat. What would you recommend?

HpS - Damodara asta. Reading Vrndavana Dhama Mahimarta by Kusa Krata Das.

I'm jumping with excitement until your arrival. Thank you for your sincerity and mercy Maharaj.

Your blundering servant ,

Sarita

*the picture attached was Chant 4Change last week, an inter-faith festival where hundreds of people danced and sang the Hare Krishna mantra. It was a cool event. It rained all day, and when Radhanath Swami came up, the rain stopped and the sky had pink hues.

HpS - Jaya! There is another letter and we have talked a lot since this one. We will go to the other one.

question about comments after your Janmastami lecture

8 years, 10 months ago by Namacarya das in Special Category A

Dear Guru Maharaja, PAMHO AGTSP

There was a comment after your Janmastami lecture (Hawaii). I did not understand it. It was something about a painting in the dungeon with Visnu, Devaki and Vasudeva made wrong. Please can you tell what was comment about?

HpS - AGTSP! Paoho.... It was by Vidugdha Das. He was pointing out that most of the pictures of the birth of Krsna show an adult Visnu with four arms, but the text says that the four armed form was a baby. Even the BBT art seems to have the adult.

Also, you commented about some kind of wrongness about morning kirtan in SP samadhi in Vrindavan. But the sound was not clear, so I could not follow what you were saying (neither devotees present could). Can you maybe explain here about that?

HpS - Myself and former President, Scottish devotee, cant remember his name now, both object to the Mangala arati song in the Temple in Vrndavana, not the Samadhi. It was added of course after Prabhupada left. It is an Aruna day kirtan. It says right in the song, "The rays of the morning sun are coming", no?

Thank you!

Your servant Namacarya das

Thank you!!! >>>>

Jagāi and Mādhāi as Jaya and Vijaya

8 years, 10 months ago by Namacarya das in Special Category A

Dear Guru Maharaja, PAMHO AGTSP
In Hawaii class SB 3.15.32 September 22, 2016, there was a question to you for sastra reference about Jagāi and Mādhāi being Jaya and Vijaya. I am posting it here, if it is still needed.
Your servant Namacarya das

HpS - Thank you!!! I will forward it to Ramananda Das! He can send it to Narahari Das.

ps: In the class there was a mention of the cartoonist wearing shirts and t-shirt :-)

mahā-kṛpā-pātra prabhura jagāi, mādhāi
‘patita-pāvana’ nāmera sākṣī dui bhāi
Word for word:
mahā-kṛpā-pātra — object of very great mercy; prabhura — of the Lord; jagāi mādhāi — the two brothers Jagāi and Mādhāi; patita-pāvana — deliverer of the fallen; nāmera — of this name; sākṣī — witness; dui bhāi — these two brothers.
Translation:
Jagāi and Mādhāi, the eighty-ninth and ninetieth branches of the tree, were the greatest recipients of Lord Caitanya’s mercy. These two brothers were the witnesses who proved that Lord Caitanya was rightly named Patita-pāvana, “the deliverer of the fallen souls.”
Purport:

In the Gaura-gaṇoddeśa-dīpikā (115) it is said that the two brothers Jagāi and Mādhāi were formerly the doorkeepers named Jaya and Vijaya, who later became Hiraṇyākṣa and Hiraṇyakaśipu. Jagāi and Mādhāi were born in respectable brāhmaṇa families, but they adopted the professions of thieves and rogues and thus became implicated in all kinds of undesirable activities, especially woman-hunting, intoxication and gambling. Later, by the grace of Lord Caitanya Mahāprabhu and Śrī Nityānanda Prabhu, they were initiated, and they got the chance to chant the Hare Kṛṣṇa mahā-mantra. As a result of chanting, both brothers became exalted devotees of Lord Caitanya Mahāprabhu. The descendants of Mādhāi still exist, and they are respectable brāhmaṇas. The tombs of these two brothers, Jagāi and Mādhāi, are in a place known as Ghoṣahāṭa, or Mādhāitalā-grāma, which is situated about one mile south of Katwa. It is said that Śrī Gopīcaraṇa dāsa Bābājī established a temple of Nitāi-Gaura at this place about two hundred fifty years ago.

few words

8 years, 10 months ago by Namacarya das in Special Category A

Dear Guru Maharaja, please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada!

First let me thank you for inspiration and encouragement to write here to the Blog. Also, you wrote in a letter to Prahlad Nrsimha : “We suffer the same thing. Don't want to talk about our problems until we solve them, but a lot of solving them, is to talk about them. “ This very much made sense to me. My need is to talk openly. Without fear of being rejected. Share realizations, thoughts and doubts. You in a very nice way encourage all that.

you wrote:
Is there anyone else who holds these principles the same as we do, amongst our God-brothers?
One of our greatest concerns in that ISKCON Sannyasis become pets kept by pious ISKCON householders to satisfy the Grhastha's sentiments: Here is my parrot, here is my cook, here is my Guru.
If you are a Sannyasi you should have a passion to do something new, no? Then, how can the Institution support you, because it is something new, so the Institution has no existence there yet.
None of the instruments we have in ISKCON now will let us move forward.
We try to contact senior men A..., N...., P....., T.... about their projects and their vision. We try to contact R.... in Peru.

No one seems alive on this level, so the only solution is to go back to the roots of our life in Krsna consciousness. Hmmm. Does God have a plan? Does He know the future? Is a war coming, that will break all the rules and leave us only the inspiration of the Paramatma to do anything in this comedy?
It is new to me that a sannyasi should do something new? What kind is this “new”? Is it preaching projects?
HpS - Yes, Sannyasa is meant for serving Krsna. Maya is always giving newer and newer tricks to keep us engaged. So we need ever fresh preaching programs.
I agree about your thoughts about Institution. Sometimes it looks to stiff. Even though new ideas are actually just looking new to some leading people in the institution. It is not that because it is new , that it means that there is breaking of vaisnava principles. But somehow, some projects or ideas do not get approved. So, yes, in a way, it can be depressing.
When you say “None of the instruments we have in ISKCON now will let us move forward.” Could you share details about that?
HpS - It is just my personal experience of the world around me. My opinion is that my personal opinions are like everyone elses personal opinions, personal. We need to evaluate other people, devotees, get information from them and then go on developing our understanding of the Sankirtan environment. We heard that two devotees were traveling from Temple to Temple. They would go out day after day and sell 3-5 of the big KRSNA Art books. Devotees tried to find their secret and after they had exhausted the resource it turned out they were selling to Tattoe studios. Hippies are our best customers.
We keep investigating our options. We feel that this educatio area has to go ahead. We need our own primary schools etc.

When you say to go back to the roots in our life in KC, what does it mean?
HpS - We all have personal reasons that we are attracted to Krsna consciousness, no? Then we get involved in the insitution and become absorbed in eat, sleeping etc. So our motivations can be superficial. We may take a few months off and get back to deeper, persona, often passionate motivations, otherwise we will dry up.
Your servant Namacarya das
ps: got this weird lines in the letter. Do not know how delete them. Stiil , the letter seems readable
HpS. I tried applying the "Styles" above and only seems to have made it worse. These opinions I expressed are our intuitive reactions to the world around us. We see them as a little external, like our mind talking, Brother Ass talking, but very important to some of us.
