GURUDEVA

TODAS LAS GLORIAS A SRILA PRABHUPADA

TODAS LAS GLORIAS SEAN PARA USTED

PORFAVOR ACEPTE MIS MAS HUMILDES Y RESPETUOSAS REVERENCIAS

PD: Estoy haciendo Sankirtan constantemente :D

Dear Guru Maharaj,

PAMHO AGTSP!

I'm just writing to reconnect since it's been such a long time. The last several months have been very complex and eventful, like a new incarnation, and I'm still trying to process all the ideas and experiences that lead up to where I am today.

HpS - ASA = Vidya vadu jivanam!!

I guess I've been a little embarrassed to write, since I was forced to move in with my partner a little prematurely to escape poverty and potential incarceration. Immediately after I left LA they began to enforce laws targeting vandwellers like me. Even 6 months of long distance dating is not enough to prepare one for sharing space, but somehow despite all odds we remained together for another 6 months and now we are officially engaged.

I managed to find decent work out here in Dallas doing art handling, so I'm learning all about how to pack, ship, and install artwork for museums, galleries, and private collections. Whenever I have time, aside from devotional practices I'm completing the next stage of my independent study by exploring subjects pertaining to my spiritual art goals. Lately I've been practically a recluse, taking some online courses and reading books mainly about music, art history, Spanish, sanskrit, Kabbalah, astrology, and poli-sci... but I did manage to get out and hear a class by Mukunda Datta prabhu just the other day!

Both Reivin and I are gradually developing our strategies to exit the workforce asap by selling goods and services we produce ourselves, and coming up with ways to help others do the same. We're about to start taking some permaculture workshops soon so that one day we might be able to start some kind of school or community. I've been in touch with Daniel Cody about potential future collaborations but in the meantime we're still just taking things one day at a time.  Reivin has been having some neurological issues possibly related to a car accident she survived some years back, and the transmission finally went out on my van, so the main focus now is just patiently gathering strength and skills, knowledge, resources, and contacts in order to do some valuable service in the near future. I hope by the time my Spanish becomes more fluent I'll be able to visit you in Peru!

your wandering miscreant,

Ekashma Das

HpS - We have been worried about you!   Where is Ekasma Das?   Are you gettting 25-rounds done per day and following the 5-regulative principles?     Your life sounds O.K.   You haven't taken to wine and roses!!    Of course, simple Temple life as an LA b'cari is one way to go, but isn't a practical path for everyone. So then the challenge is to find another bona fide path. There are a lot of them.

First thing is Hari nama.   Japa vrata???

Then Ethical Life. Four principles.

Then VAD  ... B'cari, Grhastha...   Brahmana, Ksatriya, Sudra....    as service to Srila Prabhupada in ISKCON.

How is the Japa???

We are associated with ISKCON Murfreesboro, Nashville, which is Nitai-gaura-sundara Das and a few more devotees, and with other Temple communities when we travel.  That is a stable path for us.

O.K. Hope to hear from you soon!!

Interesting painting!

Urgent - Invitation to speaking event

6 years, 9 months ago by Dhruvānanda DAS in Calendar Development

HpS - I think the following part of this letter was published on the Blog, by accident. I was working on it then tried to call Dr. Samaresh in India to see if there has been any news about the symposium in Kolkata at the end of November. It is still not fixed if we will be going to Indian the end of November.  In general, it seems that we should decline the offer to maybe lecture at the Pivot Summit, although we looked at the summit link you sent.

Let us stay in touch with this Calendar Development and even more with our efforts to identify different prospective candidates for devotional service.

Have you shown our "Art and the Sacred" clip to your friend, contact?

Dear Maharaja,

pamho agtsp

I have an invitation from a devotee in Melbourne for you to speak at Pivot Summit 2018, 6th-7th December.

Here is the devotee’s message to me:

“Do you know his [HPS] diary for this year? I am part of a big tech, film, entrepreneurial event in Geelong (Melbourne) 7th dec, would be great to get him to come and speak or to at least attend and network with the many academics that will be there. The conference is for technology, startups and social entrepreneurship. This year {confidential at this stage} is that the general theme is Tech on Trial (Black Mirrors style). I have less control over speakers than I had last year. Could Maharaj give a talk about the dangers of technology and or social entrepreneurship? Can you send through a little bio that I can show my boss?”

You might be wondering what is “Black Mirror”. It’s an interested TV show that addresses philosophical questions that arise with the progress of technology. I have seen a few episodes. In my opinion it address the possible dangers of technology quite well and they are good conversations to be having.

Here is a link to the conference’s webpage.

What do you think maharaja? Would you like to speak at this event?

Ys

Dhruvananda Das

HpS - Hare Krsna!!     AGTSP  paoho....     I was planning to write to you ASAP.   I found a nice verse related Australian aboriginal cosmology as I understand it from you: https://www.vedabase.com/en/sb/8/5/33

"SB 8.5.33

Translation:

The entire cosmic manifestation has emerged from water, and it is because of water that all living entities endure, live and develop. This water is nothing but the semen of the Supreme Personality of Godhead. Therefore, may the Supreme Personality of Godhead, who has such great potency, be pleased with us.

Purport:

Despite the theories of so-called scientists, the vast quantities of water on this planet and on other planets are not created by a mixture of hydrogen and oxygen. Rather, the water is sometimes explained to be the perspiration and sometimes the semen of the Supreme Personality of Godhead. It is from water that all living entities emerge, and because of water they live and grow. If there were no water, all life would cease. Water is the source of life for everyone. Therefore, by the grace of the Supreme Personality of Godhead, we have so much water all over the world."

Invitation to Chile - Early November 2018: Smaller Version Arte y Lo Sagrado Santiago / Programs with Devotees

6 years, 9 months ago by jagad.guru.das in Calendar Development

All Glories to Sri Sri Gaura Nitai

All Glories to Srila Prabhupada,

I’m very happy to communicate with you again regarding calendar development.

We are discussing here the program "Arte y Lo Sagrado" Santiago First Version. Once, you told me, in connection with the Congress of Education, that it doesn't matter if there is no too much advance[ment], but to say that, would be a kind of advance also. I suppose that is because we acknowledge it.

Anyway, the first step to close things is to ensure your great presence with us, after Peru. It means the first weeks of November.

So, The purpose of this letter is inviting you here, is to participate in this program: Arte y Lo Sagrado. 6-8 November. The next program is not completely confirmed but is our dream. But we know that is not possible because of the time and because the first and second days the MCs are famous here and “expensive” ones. But we have a connection with everyone. So let us try.

HpS - AGTSP paoho.    At the ealiest we can catch a flight on 27th October from Lima to Santiago. Then we have to be back in Lima to catch a flight to Houston by the 21 November at 1.30AM.   Are these dates O.K.?     If we come a little later and leave a little earlier is there any specific problem?    Please confirm the visit with the Temple!!  Thank you.   The rest let us develop in consultation. Bit by bit.

November 6th First Day: Theory

MC MC and interviewer at the end: Christian Warken

  • Why human look for the sacred -  An Psychoanalysis perspective. Beverly Zabriskie. (or the president of the Jungian Society in Chile)
  • Vaisnava Vedanta Explication about the Human Nature – Hanumatpresaka Swami (The title is a subtle reference to the book: “14 Theories of the Human Nature” from Oxford University Press, in which one David Haberman have participated like co-author:. Very interesting. He contributed the Hinduism part)
  • Aesthetics and its origins – Claudia Lira

November 7th Second Day: Praxis

MC and interviewer at the end: Cristian Contreras (aka Dr. File)

  • Arte Precolombino – Ramón Mujica
  • Poesía Sagrada – Raúl Zurita. We already spoke a little bit to him about this program and he wants to help and he will be here in Chile at that time.
  • Bhagavatam Purana and  Music (Radhika Ramana originally, considering the second part of his 2013 book like editor along with Krishna Ksetra Maharaja, called The Bhagavata Purana Sacred Text and Living Tradition. But Abhirama already told us about his agenda troubles, so you will even better speaker about the Bhagavata Purana and his connection with the music, drama, dance or directly and exclusively about song, hari kirtana, like you want).

November 8th Last Day: Living the experience

The idea of this day is to LIVE the sacred art… or the art unto the sacred. So, we are not clear what is the best. But here the proposap.

  • Hare Krishna movie Jhon Grieser. 600 seats. Cine Arte Normandie. 7th Art. Cinema.
  • Maha Mantra Mantra Session with musical instruments and little Classical Music to the God.
  • Classical Music of India; Dance and Concert.

Our guests would be:

Raúl Zurita

Raúl Zurita is one of Latin America’s most celebrated and controversial poets. After Augusto Pinochet’s 1973 military coup, Zurita’s poetry sought to register the atrocities committed against the Chilean people and the corruption of the Spanish language. During the dictatorship that lasted from 1973 to 1990, Zurita published a trilogy of books (Purgatory, Anteparadise, and The New Life), wrote poems in the sky above New York City[i], bulldozed poems in the Chilean desert, and helped to form the art collective “Colectivo de Accion de Arte” that used performance as an act of political resistance.

Of his early poetry, C.D. Wright has written: “Under the eyes of church and dictatorship, he began to write and publish his poetry, juxtaposing secular and sacred, ruled and unruled. With a mysterious admixture of logic and logos, Christian Symbols, brain scans, graphics, and a medical report, Zurita expanded the formal repertoire of his language, of poetic materials, pushing back against the ugly vapidity of rule by force.”

Zurita was awarded the Chilean National Prize for Literature, a scholarship from the Guggenheim Foundation, and he has held poetry readings at numerous American universities including Harvard, Yale, Stanford and Berkeley. His books in English translation include Anteparadise (translated by Jack Schmitt), Purgatory (translated by Anna Deeny), INRI (translated by William Rowe) and Song for His Disappeared Love (translated by Daniel Borzutzky).

Claudia Lira Latuz

Final Words:

The teacher Claudia Lire went to China to make one of her latest research: The role of the aesthetic experience of nature in artistic creation in Chinese landscape painting and poetry. (Santander China Grant 2015). On the other hand, Cecilia Montero just releases her book “De la Ciencia a la Conciencia” with a strong support from the mass media here in Chile.

However, we didn’t know how to insert these topics in the structure presented above; theory, praxis and living the experience. So, maybe you could suggest something.

We are planning to invest even more efforts in marketing, and we realize that if the people should register themselves, prior to go to the event, and send reminders the day before, ensuring that the people really feel engage and works.

So, we think that we can this year we can try another time: 5 pm. So, would be like a seminar. In this case, they should ask permission to the bosses to attend, unless the main topics is related to their work directly. So, in this case, attend “Arte y Lo Sagrado” will be something obligatory.

Regarding the program itself, we propose shorter presentations, but with a interviewer at the end, who could make some good questions. I have seen that this scheme work very well in lighter programs. Meanwhile, Arte y lo Sagrado will be tougher, powerful content, but this is just a proposal.

Thank you so much for giving us your valuable time.

Hare Krsna gurudev.

ASA Online - NOI Reading and Update

6 years, 9 months ago by srinath in Special Category A

Dear Guru Maharaja

Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada! All glories to you!

I went through the files recorded in startmeeting and downloaded the NOI reading files. There were complete reading files for Preface, Text 1 through Text 5 and Text 7. Only part of Text 6 (Until "he falls from the platform of paramahaṁsa"), Text 8 (Until "regarding the cultivation of devotional service.") and Text 9 (Until "eternal loving affairs between Kṛṣṇa and Rādhārāṇī (rati-vilāsa).") were there.

I couldn't find the files for Text 10 and 11. I was also not able to find the Education Symposium files of Mother Urmila you told me about.

I also think some of the recordings with wonderful presentations like the one you gave couple of months back summarizing Srimad Bhagavatam can be uploaded in the ASA youtube channel.

Guru Maharaja, please guide me on how I should proceed further. It would be great if we can talk for a few minutes about this.

We have 431 tracks so far with a few more that will be uploaded this week. We have had 2301 plays so far and about 35 plays on an average per week. People from more that 50 countries including Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have listened to the lectures.

I have also changed the soundcloud url to make it easier to remember. The link is now - https://soundcloud.com/hpswami. Can you please add this in the kapi dhvaja?

From my previous letter, you asked me about my younger brother. His name is Sriram and he is doing his Masters in Computer Engineering in Connecticut.

Your servant

Srinatha Krsna dasa

HpS - Hare Krsna...  AGTSP   paoho...   We will try to remember to post the address to the Kapi Dhvaja.  Yes, let us talk. We downloaded and transcribed the NOI files. I have about 41 files in that directory.

I just spent about 10-minutes reseaching Mother Urmilla's and Radhika etc's presentation for the first symposium in Houston. My records indicate that it was June-Aug 2014. The record of the files shows up but it says they were deleted.  I never remember doing that.   Maybe there is a time limit on how long the records are kept.

O.K. Let us talk.

Sound cloud address to KDh.   Please text us, Call us.
