Anadi’s father left his body this morning

3 weeks, 1 day ago by Nick Delffs in Personal Sadhana Reports

Hare Krishna Gurumaharaja, please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

Barry departed this morning. Stage 4 cancer, pneumonia, blood cancer..helped him get to his next body. It was a complicated and long process. He was ready to go.

Maharaja, can you wish him well on his journey? We are praying that he can stay connected to devotees and devotional service somehow.

We chanted and sang Maha Mantra. Put Krishna’s garland on him, sprinkled Ganga water and then put offered tulsi leaf on his tongue right after the soul left the body.

He donated many plants to the temple over the years. Took lots of Prasadam. Listened to his daughter sing kirtan. Solid, down to earth kind of guy. Pantheist.

After he passed a “spirtual advisor” came to talk to all of us. A Christian man but had so many questions about what we were chanting and the significance of the garland and the tulsi leaf. Very nice interfaith dialogue and sincerity. I was thinking…maybe he will become a devotee someday and he was probably thinking…(then I remembered your story, Maharaja)

HpS/ASA - AgtSP!!!! I did not know him! I did not know he was close to death. We feel cheated. 🙂.

Seems he got excellent departure.

Did he leave his body, buddy, in Boise???

Please send a picture asap so we can chant a few rounds with our mind focused on him.

Reflections on Balabhadra's Prabhu letter

asa[e] iskcon

Hare Krishna, Dear Gurudeva,

Please accept our humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

Dear Gurudeva,

Thank you so much for your association! The mere possibility of our Sunday sanga makes ISKCON worthwhile, even if everything else in the organization were wrong. Just this possibility alone makes it worth being in ISKCON.

Regarding the Panihati festival we discussed one Sunday, we saw one of the principles taught in this pastime: we can do nothing without the mercy of the Supreme Personality of Godhead. Raghunath Das Goswami could not get rid of his family ties without the mercy of Lord Chaitanya. This brings to mind, and we wanted to take the opportunity to comment on the class, and also on the letter from Balabhadra Prabhu in Boise, Idaho, who was upset with his congregation and wanted to move somewhere else. https://monkeywarrior.com/detail/15617/

We don't know the details, but in a sense, it might be okay for him to go to another congregation, although we would like to share a bit of our personal experience, because we have also had the same feelings.

We remember when you also expressed your feelings about your congregation. We recall you saying that you disagreed with the politics of the temples and didn't want to get involved, and that you were determined to sleep on a park bench and freeze to death chanting Hare Krishna. Then your invitation to go to Peru arrived, and there your perspective changed.

HpS - It was not exactly the Congregation. They were a little irrelevant to the issue. It was the administrators who demanded that if we were going to domicile under their Temple roof that then we should use our preaching position to support their political agendas. Oooof! Other Sannyasis in ISKCON report the same pressure. Think Sannyasis in any religion will report the same thing. It is natural.

The other side is that Sannyasis should!! cooperate with the administration. Respect there role. Several times with Srngi and Parasurama it is pointed out that in certain aspects killing the king is worse than killing a Brahmana.

When we got the invitation from Peru it did not change our attitude, it just allowed us to go on in ISKCON institution, because we encountered a President who didn't want political subservience from us.

Thank you.

Our realization is that when we felt frustrated with the congregation, it was due to one of two reasons: the first, due to "overdelivery," meaning, overexerting ourself. When you do more than you can, you expect more than you should. If we make an artificial renunciation and push ourselves more than we are able, naturally, our expectation is greater.

HpS/ASA - NoI 2 ? Niyama agraha.

The other factor is that we want to control things somehow. Sometimes we believe we know or understand what is best for the congregation, to be the "best friend."

However, sometimes, by the mercy of Krishna and even Prabhupada, everything is under the supervision of the internal potency. The analogy you give, that Maya is like swimming in the ocean, is very clear. Sometimes the waves knock us down and carry us away, and sometimes they bring us closer to the shore. We have noticed the same in our own spiritual life. Sometimes we swim very hard, but then we rest and realize that only the Lord's mercy can help us. Then, one stops swimming, lets go, but then the waves of Maya start dragging us away again. It's a balance between controlling and exerting ourselves, and then allowing Krishna's mercy to act.

When one finds this point of balance—which we could also call humility—we understand our position, what our contribution is, what the devotees need, and how we can best serve the mission. When the congregation gives us something back that is uncomfortable, the response must be to look inward and see if we are not incurring these faults: doing more than we can (with an incorrect expectation) or controlling too much.

HpS - Same in the marriage and family community, no?

We have noticed that when devotees leave due to this pattern, their Krishna consciousness does not improve. We cannot kill our soul. Bhagavad Gita 5.15 is very clear in this regard. (And the Supreme Lord does not assume responsibility for anyone's sinful or pious activities. However, the embodied beings are bewildered because of the ignorance covering their true knowledge). We believe that ISKCON is one of the best hospitals for the soul, to get rid of our material consciousness and enter into our spiritual consciousness.

We felt like we were in a tsunami, wallowing in suffering, until we met Srila Prabhupada. The synthesis of his message is: chant Hare Krishna as much as you can, never stop chanting. That is like a boat with oars that will take you in the right direction.

Our recommendation, both for ourself and for the devotee in Idaho, is that when we feel hostility from our congregation, we can withdraw, dance, share a kirtan and prasadam with the devotees. In that way, it is very easy to enter into the internal potency. Afterwards, we can simply withdraw and do our personal service at home, relating to the congregation in that way.

This is better than wanting to cut ties with the congregation, because this is the world of duality: the congregation is not all good or all bad, it's a mix of both. We have to learn to take the good and tolerate the bad for our own purification. And if we purify ourselves, the congregation will too.

Gurudev, these are our reflections. I would like to hear your comment and your opinion on the matter. Do you think they are correct, or are they just our own speculations?

Your foolish servant,

Nikunja Bihari das.

HpS - Seems like 90% what we would say, and I think 90% of what Bala bhadra Das would agree, and I think that you me and he all kind of smile and say that it is easier to understand the basic philosophy than to apply it sometimes. 😃

Also, of course, there are details. You know that First Aid is great, but being trained as a full Medical Doctor allows you to relate to so many strange combinations of the diseases.

Thank you!

More of this later!!!!!

Hare Krishna, Amado Gurudeva,

Por favor, acepte nuestras humildes reverencias.

Todas las glorias a Srila Prabhupada.

Querido Gurudeva,

No podemos matar nuestra alma.

All glories to Srila Prabhupada and U!!!!!

Hare Krsna Dear Gurudeva

Please accept our humble obeisances

Yes... It's been a long time since my last letter. I apologize for not writing as often as I should.

These past few months have been very interesting and educational for me.

HpS/ASA - 🐵

At home, we already have an established and fixed standard for the worship of deities. The whole family is part of this activity.

We are chanting the rounds at all times. Prabhu Caturatma inspires us greatly, as whenever we see him, he always has his japa in hand. He is a great example for us.

I am still waiting for two minor surgeries before I can be placed on the waiting list for a new transplant.

Meanwhile, my nutritionist has given me a diet to maintain my weight. Unfortunately, it is almost impossible for me to follow a 100% vegetarian diet. So I have had to add eggs to my diet, as I am low in protein. It seems that this diet is helping me to avoid dialysis treatment.

HpS/ASA - Awk!! Must be some better food for protein than chicken ovum. They include all kinds of unecesary elements necessary for the chicken baby to grow! Keep looking!!! Beans? Bhima burgers??

The chickens of the world will thank you.

Things at school are going very well. This August, we will begin social work with visually impaired students. My students and I will give some classes for them.

Well, that's all for now. I hope to be more attentive and write to you more often, telling you how things are going.

Your servant

Patraka Das

HpS/ASA - Thank you!!!

Struggle to be a paramahamsa! Become President of Peru if necessary. Little thing. So much respect to Your family.

Carta

Hare Krishna Querido Gurudev.

Hare Krishna, Dear Gurudev. Please accept my humble obeisances. TLGASP.

HpS/ASA - Paoho.. AgtSP.. Thank you for this letter and your association.

In my last letters, I wrote to you that I was making clothing for friends' deities, and I'm writing to share photographs, as you mentioned, that you'd like to see.

ASA - 🐵

❗

I also mentioned that I wanted to see a photo of my altar, so I'll leave a note for that as well. My associate Nitaipada helped me get a deity of Lord Dhamesvara. For a long time, I only had a painting of Radharkrishna and the deities from the Santiago GauraNitai temple.

I'd like to tell you that I continue to help in the kitchen for Srila Prabhupada's Friday feast; it's a beautiful service. My rounds are going steadily, although sometimes I have difficulties and put them off during the day. However, I try my best to be able to keep up.

I'm reading Carl Jung's book, Psychology and Religion, so I can write a review for Nios.

Here are some records of the Prasadam from Friday's feast.

I hope Lord Narasimha always protects you 🌺

Thank you so much for everything you give us!

HpS - If we do not finish our rounds, we must keep an accounting and later complete them, no?

It is a vow we make to Krsna in a transcendental status from our free choice. Avasya raksibe krsna. Krsna has given me this service so surely He will give me all necessities to complete it!

Jaya!

Nice pictures. Nice Dieties!!

Respects to Nitai pada, Ji!

What books of Jung are you reading? What do you think of them?

Sri Balarama

3 weeks, 4 days ago by Radha Japa in Personal Sadhana Reports

Hare Krishna, remembered Guru Maharaja! Please accept my respectful obeisances at Your kind lotus feet!

HpS - AgtSP

I hope you are always happy in the company of our beloved Govinda❤️

I wanted to ask you: Lord Balarama meets with Krishna's gopis to teach them how to dance. And I've also heard that He has His own gopis. Are both statements true?

HpS - I remember reading a commentary on the Caitanya Bhagavata by Srila Bhakti siddhanta while I was in the B'cari ashrama in Spain where he said that Lord Balarama never dances with Gopis in the mood of an enjoyer, husband. He always acts in the mood of Guru, dance teacher.

So, some gopis He may be showing for the first time what it is like to dance with Krsna. Some may progress to join the Rasa lila with Krsna, and some may stay in that mood of students, admirers and group forever.

Regarding reading the 3rd cantos of Srimad Bhagavatam onward, I have no one other than Gopal and Franco when they want to join me. I don't have a connection, only WhatsApp, and if I do sometimes, it's very limited and doesn't last long. I only associate with them, and in the mornings I go out to make sales and talk to people. That's all my in-person association. So, can I read with them sometimes and sometimes alone?

HpS - Yes.

I was thinking of writing my songs for Govinda here while I find time to record. I read that you said we have to pay to play them.

HpS - I don't remember saying that! Maybe Monkey or Piggy said it. You can post for free.

How should I pay? And also, please tell me an account number where I can deposit a small dakshina from me to you. I can send it to you via Western Union. Can you give me your ID and I'll send it to you.

HpS - Ask Abhirama Thakura Das. Otherwise it may be too expensive.

Thank you so much for inspiring us, beloved Gurudeva.

Trying to please his adorable heart that melts with the beautiful name of Krsna:

Japa Prati Jalpa Radha Devi Dasi

HpS - Thank you. Going with Gopinatha Das to Lowe's hardware store to buy a lock for our video equipment.

do you want to hear a song?

that Krsna sings at dawn

as He takes the cows out early.

He is ever fresh beauty.

color schemes that make the eyes and heart dance.

the cows and boys they almost feint,

just to see His paint.

He is so full of happy energy that He skips along as He heads out.

everyone knows that they must start a little early, because it is a goodly walk to get to where they will be pasturing today.

the sun is delighted that he can shine on them as he rises on the way.

Balarama, Subala, Sridama, all, are moving along with great determination, and also begin to play.

Flutes, clapping hands.

singing funny friendly remembered songs.

the village folk see them disappearing and almost feint.

only thing that keeps them alive is that they want to cook some more things for them and send them by messengers.

running, walking, dancing, singing,

so much practical work to do.
