Dialog with SVBDP (GBC)

4 years, 4 months ago by hps in Special Category A
  1. Virabahu Das is an excellent source of illumination from Srila Prabhupada.
  2. SVBD is one of our closest friends in ISKCON (if he hasn't gotten disgusted with our bad qualities🙄).
  3. He is our GBC Secretary for the Anjana Suta Academy, and Chile, where ASA is especially designed for preaching!

We have not had contact with him for some time, so we Whatsapped him. Edited message:

AGTSP!  Paoho...  Where are you, Sir?     We are still based in Nashville, but after one year here, with our vaccinations, we went for the weekend to Richmond, Virginia.

We still have it on our TTD list to palaver with some of the different ISKCON communities in Santiago, 😳, but since we had heard no more rumbles between them it has not gotten done.

We will do it.

Our main focus is just consolidating our Sankirtan stuff (into a movie) before we die. 🦆🦆🦢🦆....

What is your physical address?  We might mail you a sketch book. 📓

Please call, text us, as you desire.

We still publish the Kapi Dhvaja fortnightly and have about 40-people average on-line for Mangala-arati etc.

Respected Senor,

PAMHO,AGTSP,

Can you elaborate on the line "Until we learn to lover everyone we will never be worthy of everyone's love. It is our independent free choice.

Of course, in the Madhyama adhikari stage this means learning to avoid the things that make us hate them. That is part of our independent process of love."

Esp the words - "independent process of love" as context of Madhyam Adhikari.

Which your grace (My Holiness [Sannyasi] 😁 😁😁) wrote in https://monkeywarrior.com/detail/12299

Trying to [change??] self from Sugriva to Hanuman

HpS - ASA - We have free will. It is part of our fundamental nature. In Madhayama adhikari stage it is beginning to manifest. Like a child or even a dog can make personal choices if the circumstances are kept in the mode of goodness for them, no?

High MA, low MAdhikari...

Even if spouse, boss, is mean to us, we can make the choice to not become a victim, to try to understand the situation and help them.

Bali may never appreciate Sugriva in this lifetime, but doesn't mean that Sugriva has to become his enemies enemy.

Some help?

I'd like to share good news with those who follow HH Hunumauntpresaka (Hanumat-presaka) Swami's blog, where I get my advice and instructions from.

I've taken his main instruction of never give up, and always chant the holy names of the lord.

After about three years I've been added to the list of becoming his deciple (disciple).

This brings me great peace of mind, and feel much more connected to the Vaisnavas and the Parampara.

HpS - It is a great honor for us to be able to help you in this or other capacity. Srila Prabhupada has taken some notice of you??? Why not??

This is the mercy of guru, one who has spilled gallon's of blood to bring me and others to a position where we can become more than we've ever imagined. to be free of the conditions that have bound one to our needs and wants, and to stop the downward spiral of life.

HpS - AgtSP who made his Generals out of Mud!

To a higher standard of life that knows no bounds. it's assuring to know there's someone helping you in the endeavor.

My purpose now is learning to be the servant of the servant of the servant. which I've seen the master teach by his example tirelessly giving of himself.

I wanted to share my good fortune and looking forward to being of some service to my fellow comrades.

Hare Krishna

You're servant Mike Jarvis

HpS - We came in contact with Bhakta Michael a few years ago. As we remember he was in Seattle and trying to get formal initiation then. We've had nice conversation. Then, a few weeks ago, Badri-naryana Swami formally recommend Mike as a candidate and we had a very nice phone conversation while we were in Richmond with Subal, Mataji and everyone.

He was in the merchant marine for several years. His ships went to Asia and now he is retired and can do full time service in the San Diego temple.

Senyor Miguel Jarvis... please send us some news of your service each month. Your realizations of Radha Giridhari et al!!!

Fighting Sexual Impulses?

ASA(e), VAD, Sexual Impuses

Hare Krishna, Maharaja.

Pamho.

One practical question:

What do I do when there's strong sensual impulse?

I can't get married and accept family life for occasional urges when I know family life involves many incumbrances.

What do you suggest Maharaja?

When should a Brahmachari decide to marry?

Please reply in your leisure, Maharaj.

Thank you.

Dandvats at your feet.

Your servant

HpS - ASA - AGTSP!! Paoho.

'Victory comes from good advice

And good advice comes from

Many counselors.'

-Chanakya Pandita

Of course, when Srila Prabhupada gives advice it is advice of many good counselors, perfect energy or the Parampara!

We can identify ourselves as M'adhikari but by your association inspired to do better. So please accept any advice that we offer as part of the community of advisors that you have.

We are all individuals, so we need individual advice about how to serve Krsna best. For that there are 18,000 verses and so many storys in the SB etc.

One basic perspective we see is Kardama and Devahuti. He may have wanted to stay B'cari, but Lord said that was best for him to get married. Go through the experience one more time with utasahan... and finish his attachment. Maybe as B'cari it would have taken 3-lifetimes. We don't have to give up ANY of our attachemt to Krsna by entering G'hasta ashrama. Proper wife will feel the same way. She does NOT want a husband who loves her expect as a servant of Krsna. Of course our love is mixed so Vaidhi Bhakti, DVAD, is the fastest way to get that purification.

That is about all I can say from this distance.

Talk with people who know your details and then make detailed decisions. Eg. Oh, we see that you are a Ksatriya so of course you should get married to a like minded lady and increase your service experience your desires and then be finished with them.

SB 1.17.39 Says that boys should be married by 25 years old (or go into Sannyasa Ashrama). Of course, can also go directly into Vanaprastha ashrama like Vaisesika and Vira-bahu Prabhus.

To deal with immediate strong agitation, take to immediate strong Japa, Kirtan, Sankirtan.

Hare Krsna! Hare Rama

Gauranga! Gauranga!

Wash your clothes, practical physical service. Eat Havisanna. Hear the KRSNA book with our B'caris. Aspire to Sannyasa is the best way possible, always increasing your mystic powers to service Krsna according to you Siddha svarupa.

O.K?

Humility

4 years, 4 months ago by monkeydevotee in Special Category A

Hare Krishna Everyone.

All glories to Srila Prabupada

Humility and tolerance as described by Acharya’s are considered to be two important indicators for spiritual progress.

I want to touch base with one aspect of humility today which helps in every aspect of life which includes relationships like with wife, kids, parents, work or associating with devotees.

Over the years conducting and participating in Bhakti Vriksha programs I have come across different versions of humility from devotees.

Let’s start with our mind.

Our mind is restless, manipulative and tells us how to act in certain situations to be appropriate for particular situation.

Humility does not mean that you have to wear old clothes, drive old car or live in a hut. Everyone lives according to their means and sometime more or below their means. We all have imbibe things while growing up and is actually very deeply ingrained to our system.

If someone tells me to buy 500-dollar shirt I won’t buy it even if I can afford it because I am not raised like that. So we have to understand that outer appearance and the way we live have sometimes nothing to do with humility.

We could be just too attached to money, we could be very frugal and also have hard time doing charity. But if we look from outside we may be considered to be very humble because we know when to fold hands and pay obeisance.

One aspect of humility which I want to discuss today is to look inside and see your faults. Then you accept it and try to rectify it. This process of seeing fault inside and trying to rectify is very purifying process and definitely helps spiritually and helps in relationships.

Another part of humility is that its all or none. If you are humble at the temple, you are also humble in front of your spouse, family and work. It’s a part of you. Otherwise you are just acting out.

I have met lot of people, men or women, who have trouble accepting faults in themselves even after chanting for many years. I am not trying to find any faults with those who are sincerely chanting. My point is If we are able to grow from inside our spiritual progress will be more expedited.

Hare Krishna

Shitij Kapoor

HpS - Thank you, Sir!

Hare Krsna!

It seems you have been chanting for some time with some sincere effort and your heart is becoming gentle and wise.

Daksa is an example of someone who did Visnu yajna for many years but he had attachments in his heart that slowed or contaminated his progress. Lord Caitanya explains this in His analogy of the Krpa of Bhakti to Rupa Goswami (CC Madhya 19).

Thank you!!
