Por la misericordia de Srila Prabhupada hemos cumplido. Con esta publicación estamos dando inicio a sus actividades oficiales.

INTRODUCTION:

The magazine, Solaris, is a multidisciplinary, annual magazine (mainly philosophy, education, religion, psychology and art) aimed at developing the cultivation of the human spirit. We plan to publish the first issue March 2016.

Articles may be written in Spanish or English. For an item to be admitted and then released authors first have to submit an abstract of 150 to 200 words to [email protected], this summary will be evaluated by the Editorial Board for approval.

In addition to magazine articles you can publish notes, poems, short stories, biographies and reviews, as well as drawings and illustrations whose content relates to the theme. All material must not have been published before.

As the Sun, Solaris lives for the benefit of all. We hope for your kind participation. Thank you.

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

The foremost motive that impels us to make this editorial project a reality is the proposition that as human beings we have the capacity to develop a level of higher consciousness than the predominant paradigm which does not address essential topics such as:  Who am I? What is death? What is the purpose of life? What are higher aspirations for human beings?

We hope to address these themes from this forum.

The vast majority of media in circulation inform only about material comfort, and they morbidly emphasize violence, death and individual and social frustration. Through Solaris we will present reflections that may reveal that such unhappiness is not only caused by social, political, economic and cultural problems, but it is also the reflection of the misfortune of a world in which the mind and heart of the majority of people are sustained only in mundane values and spiritual values are depreciated.

WHY THE NAME?

First, because of its iconographic significance. In every culture the sun has predominantly represented or been connected to life, light and wisdom (it has also been related to fundamental cause, motive or reason). Second, for the algorithmic sense that just as the rotation of the sun indicates that one day has passed and another one is beginning, similarly, in Solaris, we propose taking advantage of the wisdom of the past, so as to not live blindly in the present, and thus build universally a better future. This is, our aim is to rediscover ourselves and try to resolve, with honesty and sustained knowledge, the mystery of where we are going?

In summary, Solaris is proposed as a platform for serious, higher, intense, and profound debate with the goal of purifying us, socially and individually, of destructive attitudes.

2.- ARTICLE ABSTRACT: Please submit an Abstract of 150-200 words of your proposed Article to the Editors for approval and/or suggestions by 15 December 2015.

3.- NUMBER OF PAGES AND STYLE OF THE ARTICLES: Articles should be brief essays from 2 to 4 pages, single spaced, Arial 12-point font. Ideally images and illustrations should be included to better communicate your ideas, but text only is also very acceptable. Use APA-6 standard for citations.

“El Sol, lleno de refulgencia infinita, es el rey de todos los planetas y la imagen del alma buena, es como el ojo de este mundo”  (Brahma sanhita. 5.52).

INTRODUCCIÓN:

La Revista Solaris es una revista anual multidisciplinaria (principalmente de filosofía, educación, religión, psicología y arte) cuya finalidad es desarrollar el  cultivo del espíritu humano. Esperamos publicar nuestro primer número para marzo de 2016.

Los artículos pueden ser escritos en español o inglés. Para que un artículo sea admitido y luego publicado primero se tiene que enviar un resumen de 150 o 200 Palabras a [email protected], este resumen será evaluado por el Consejo editorial para su aprobación.

Además de artículos la revista puede publicar notas, poemas, cuentos, biografías y reseñas, así como también dibujos e ilustraciones cuyo contenido guarde relación con el tema central. Todo el material no debe haber sido publicado antes.

Así como el Sol, Solaris sale para el beneficio de todos. Esperamos su bondadosa participación. Muchas gracias.

DECLARACIÓN DE PROPOSITO

El principal motivo que nos anima a convertir este proyecto editorial en una realidad, es la condición que como seres humanos, nosotros tenemos la capacidad de desarrollar un nivel de conciencia más elevado que el paradigma predominante, el cual no se ocupa de tópicos tan esenciales como: ¿Quién soy?, ¿Qué es la muerte?, ¿Cuál es el propósito de la vida?, ¿Cuáles son las aspiraciones más elevadas que pueden alcanzar los seres humanos? Desde esta tribuna esperamos ayudar a explicar estos temas.

La gran mayoría de medios que circulan solo informan del confort material, y, morbosamente enfatizan la violencia, la muerte y las frustraciones sociales e individuales. A través de Solaris presentaremos reflexiones que nos revelarán que toda esa infelicidad no sólo es causada por problemas políticos, sociales y económicos, sino que también es el reflejo de un mundo en el cual la mente y el corazón de la mayoría de las personas se sustentan solo en valores mundanos, menospreciando los valores espirituales. 

¿POR QUÉ EL NOMBRE?

Primero, debido a su significado iconográfico. En las culturas clásicas, el sol ha sido representado o ha estado conectado con la vida, la luz y la sabiduría (se le relaciona como causa motivo o razón).  Segundo, por el sentido algorítmico ya que de la misma forma que la rotación del sol indica que un día ha concluido y otro está por iniciarse, similarmente, en Solaris proponemos tomar ventaja de la sabiduría del pasado, para no vivir ciegamente en el presente y  construir un futuro mejor, es decir, nuestra finalidad es redescubrirnos y tratar de resolver, con honestidad y conocimiento sustentado, el misterio de: ¿a dónde vamos?                                                                                                                                

En síntesis, Solaris tiene como propósito ser una plataforma para el debate serio, alturado, intenso, profundo, con el objetivo de purificarnos de las actitudes protervas tanto individual como socialmente.

3.- ACERCA DEL NÚMERO DE PÁGINAS Y EL ESTILO DE LOS ARTÍCULOS: Los artículos deben ser ensayos breves de 2 a 4 paginas carta americana, espaciado simple, tipo de letra arial 12 puntos. CONTEST FOR THE DESIGN OF THE LOGO –SOLARIS MAGAZINE

Introduction:

The name SOLARIS is due to in all classical cultures the sun represents or has been connected with the life, light and wisdom (he is associated as cause motive or reason). Also for its algorithmic sense because in the same way that the rotation of the sun indicates that a day has ended and another is about to begin, in the same way, in SOLARIS we propose to take advantage of the wisdom of the past, not live blindly in the present and build a better future for all, ergo, our aim is to rediscover and tackle, with honesty and sustained knowledge the mystery of: where are we going?

Competition Rules

1. The logo design is intended to be the representative image of the magazine for its publication and all dissemination of its information (print, video, web page, etc.).
2.  The logo must represent the direction of the magazine (stated in the introduction) and its reflexive and diffusing nature of the eigenvalues as a tool for cultivation of the human spirit.
3. Contestants may participate personally or collectively. Participation in the contest implies acceptance of these rules in all respects.
4. The design is original and unpublished and may be single color, bicolor, tricolor or full color.
5. The proposals must be sent to this e-mail: [email protected]. The designs will be delivered in JPG or PDF format on A4 size and good resolution (at least 300 dots per inch).
6.  Deadline for sending the logo is on December 21st, 2015.
7. The jury is comprised of: • SS Hanumatpresaka Swami, General Secretary of NIOS • Ramón Mujica Pinilla, National Director of the National Library of Peru • Juan Pedro Egoavil trigos, outstanding teacher, professor at the National Fine Arts School of Peru.
8. The winner will be awarded with a collection of three books by AC Bhaktivedanta Swami Srila Prabhupada: The Bhagavad-gita, The Light of the Bhagavata and the Nectar of instruction, all autographed by the jury.
9. The winning logo is exclusive and permanent property of the journal, which will have complete freedom to use whole or in part or to modify it in the time and manner it deems necessary. It is therefore required that once the person is winning the contest give the computer version of the logo made with the original application that was designed selected.

1. El Diseño del logotipo está destinado a ser la imagen representativa de la revista para su publicación y toda difusión de información sobre la misma (Impresos, videos, página web, etc).
2. El logotipo deberá representar el sentido de la revista (expuesto en la introducción) y su naturaleza reflexiva y difusora de los valores propios como herramienta para el cultivo del espíritu humano.
3. Los concursantes podrán participar de manera personal o colectiva. La participación en el concurso presupone la aceptación de las presentes bases en todos sus términos.
4. El diseño será original e inédito y puede ser mono color, bicolor, tricolor o a todo color.
5. Las propuestas se enviarán al e-mail: [email protected].  Los diseños se entregaran en formato JPG o PDF en tamaño A4 y en buena resolución (mínimo 300 puntos por pulgada).
6. Plazo de entrega: la fecha límite para el envío del logotipo es el 21 de diciembre de 2015.
7. El jurado calificador está conformado por: • SS Hanumatpresaka Swami, Secretario General de NIOS • Ramón Mujica Pinilla, Director Nacional de la Biblioteca Nacional del Perú • Juan Pedro Egoavil Trigos, maestro destacado, catedrático de la Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes del Perú.
8. El ganador obtendrá como premio una colección de tres libros de A.C Bhaktivedanta Swami, Srila Prabhupada: El Bhagavad-gita, La Luz del Bhagavata y el Néctar de la instrucción, todos autografiados por el jurado.
9. El logotipo premiado quedará en propiedad exclusiva y permanente de la revista, que tendrá completa libertad para utilizarlo total o parcialmente o para modificarlo en el momento y la forma en que lo considere necesario. Por ello es requisito que una vez seleccionada la persona que resulte ganadora del concurso entregue la versión informática del logotipo hecho con la aplicación original con la que diseñó.

Vedabase.com is getting bigger every month and it seems to move project to next level we will need some physical office space where our team can work on the project. 
So today I had meeting with Gauranga Simha Prabhu, one of deputy managers of ISKCON Mayapur regarding possibility to rent some office space on ISKCON campus. Hopefully managers will be inspired by Krishna to agree to provide the space for Vedabase project.

Also I canceled offer from Mayapur Institute to work on their website, canceled any future service for JPS Archives and will be extremely cautious in taking any other projects.  It seems I took much more than I could handle which led me to too much stress, 'systematically' avoiding morning programs. And also took time I could use on vedabase.com. If I will continue like this I will get mad/crazy and my head will explode. :) 

ASA - That happened to us about three lifetimes ago. Wasn't a good thing.

When my service for TOVP will be completed I am planning to do only service on vedabase.com.

Last we spoke about ILS you mentioned about place on education table. Do you think it will be possible to get also slot(s) for presentations in main tracks?

HpS - ASA ----  So, so nice to hear from you and your reactions and plans. I think Vedabase.com can be considered very best way to help all other projects. Yes, seems to be so much work: A better Welcome page for new people, Index, Increase different languages, Promote knowledge and use of the Vedabase.com

We are working on the ILS program now. The organizers cancelled the idea of an education exhibition and are going to have some kind of ISKCON exhibition. Contact Ramgiridhari Das directly if you can. .. [email protected] ...

Other than that the Deadline for proposed ILS Seminars has closed, but I submitted one on Higher Education and if you let us, we could give you a lot of time to present, Vedabase.com during that time, and leaflet people in general.

We are of course focusing on this symposium on "Psychology and the Sacred"., June 21-23rd, Lima, Peru, but Vedabase.com is an essential part of that.

Thank you so, so, so much for your work. Thank your good wife for loving you even though you must be an intolerable ass at times. Thank your parents who gave us such a half-way sane person.

We are all B'caris here: Monkey, Piggy, HpS, Uncle Gismo, so we can't have intimate contact with beautiful and evil, or ugle and kind, or beautiful and kind, or ugle and evil, young and evil, or old and evil... or intimate associates of Lord Caitanya.

I have no particular thought that any ladies have evil plans, but I have so much observation that things always degraded subtly then grossly if there is private contact between men and women. Is true for the ladies also. So, we won't read any more of the letter from here on.  Best thing is to just rethink the letter: 1) This Sannyasis is a fanatic, O.K. We all have our idiosyncrasies. I have mine, and then send the letter again in a general sense for general answers first, and/or adopt a Secret Name eg. Princess Flower Bell of ISKCON etc. Then if need more private discussion we can arrange it here with nice chaperone.

HpS - Better?  AGTSP  Paoho.    Better from the stress for the South American trip?   Hmmm.  That was a long time ago, no?   Better than our daily struggle, like you?  Hmmm.  Like you, we are struggling to improve, and we do discover things. We discovered that we can bake potatoes in the micro-wave in five minutes and that has helped a lot.
Ha!  Ha!   Hare!
In general, I think like you, we are discovering that, "much better", means that our improvements, externally keep up with the external degredation caused by the three modes, but internally we are getting eternally "much better", like you(?).

As we promise we are trying to write more often to the Blog telling U about our adventures. This time we are in HariKripa (Arequipa- Peru) having such a good time with devotees (Rama lila dd and family , Manasi Ganga dd, and many many more). They are such a nice devotees with so much enthusiasm…

We had a Ratha Yatra here with their Deities and the presence of H.H. MahaVisnu Swami & Harinam Ruci devotees. For Us this has been a blessing…  we could share with devotees after so many months. Its like an injection of happiness, faith, devotion, mercy, ect…  hahahaha  we are so happy… This is the best medicine…Association with devotees, kirtan, prasadam…. 

Some days ago we experienced something very very emotional for us, after many months we were dancing and singing in Goura artik. It was so so moving. In some moment we couldn’t even sing cause we were feeling like a baby crying and asking for forgiveness to his parents. We really miss that kind of things.  We need to go to temple more often and be more open and try to share more with devotees…

We still have this problem of weight but we feel with more energy and that helps a lot to follow our sadhana. We are following an alternative medicine based on herbs and meditation and eating proper food for our body, bach flower remedies. In some way it is working. But our main medicine are our rounds so we putting more emphasis on that.

Family is ok. they are 90% vegetarians now… 

Well i guess this time news are much much interesting than last letter….

Thank you SO SO SO SO much for always being there with us, helping us... we are not a good example but that is our aim....

HpS - People tell us that all of Patrak's problems are a result of his sadness at seeing his father go. Is it true? I did not know him very well, but I can see that he might have been a very, very intimate part of your life.  My father and I were not very close. My Mother a little more, but not much, but when I got news of may fathers mortal demis, even though I had not had any contact for years, Sannyasa, still I was having dreams of him at night.
Any Krsna conscious advice about these things for our family audience.

Your Arrequipa report is super.   Of course, we smile and think, hmmm, things are very good there when you visit, but how would it be living there. Maybe the same as Lima, ISKCON.   If.....   that is true then the answer is to travel a lot, no?    -[;o]/\____
