Hare Krsna.

We could get really depressed really easy. We face the same challenges as you all. It is 7.00PM. It is almost dark outside. Definitely dark in our cave.    Good thing is our little air-conditioner is working enough to keep it cool enough to write. 95* outside this room.

NGD is the center of our real Vaisnava association here, and we have been immersed in ritual festivals the last two days and this evening he is drowing with rounds to catch up so we are alone in this Big, Impersonal, World.  (Boo Huu Huu!).

Actually a lot of it is that it is dark, our stomach is not pumping energy and we are alone.

After this letter we will go to Wal-Mart and look for a jar. There will be light and many people there and we can look at over 1-million Gismos and chant our last six rounds. With the hope of developing our eternal relations with all of our Sankirtan partners today, tommorrow and during the next year.

Janmastami was the best we ever had. Of course, previous ones have individual events that were also perfect, but this one was the best. We did hard, hard, hard physical labor for 3-hours planting a pear tree and a rose bush. That kept our senses fully active. (We hit a big hard root and had to remove it). Then the evening program was very nice with 20-minutes Kirtan, 20-minutes Reading and 20-minutes Japa for about two hours. After that more devotees and guests came and so we had to accomodate their attention with more culturally oriented programs. Also, we gave the Hawaii Janmastami SB class. There is very elevated peer association there.

On Janmastami we take a little milk at midnight, stash as much Maha-prasadam as we can get, and then take it after Mangala-arati. The sun hasn't risen so the fast for Srila Prabhupada hasn't started then. There was way, way, way too much chili in the offerings for us and we were suffering a lot from that, but made some adjustment with milk and cookies for Srila Prabhupada's feast.

We would have liked for people to chanted differently etc. but we expect that maybe until we get to Goloka we may still find imperfections in the Kirtan's etc as far as we are concerned.

We can smile. We can laugh at the Witch. We are doing practical work for Krsna.

Don't become depressed and try to drown your sorrows in Burfee or Mango-nectar.

I don't think we will answer anymore mail tonight. It is mostly practical and nothing practical can be done after 8PM.    O.K.  Chanting Japa, going out the the Bright City Lights.
Krsna book.

See you tommorrow!

Best of wishes for your Gaura-Sankirtan work!

Psychology and the Sacred Progress

We sent the following letter to Beverely and Darrol with copies to Radhika and NGD:

Jaya Sri Krsna!

Esteemed Scholars, Friends et al,
We are first concerned that you are all well and in the best of spirits. We have not heard from Jungian Psychology in New York or Inter-faith Dialog out of Canada since we parted in Peru!  We wrote to Beverely and called once but have not heard. Any problems?

We have continued with our little efforts to illuminate the world while also being seduced to some degree by the forces of darkness in the form of too much nighttime orange juice and ice-cream.

Ramon continues with great enthusiasm in these educational lines we saw blossoming in Peru. With the new President and his newly appointed Minister of Culture, Ramon may continue as Director of the National Museum for another five years, but in any case he has already been directly invited by the new President to be his Director of the Bi-centennial events for the anniversary of Peru's liberation from Colonial, political, domination. Of course, the question of liberation from intellectual and cultural domination immediately  arises and to this extent he is very, very open to literary or other contributions from Indian or other perspectives that address this issue in very practical ways.

"Solaris" magazine is going out in Spanish and we are already expanding our dialog with Trans-personal Psychologists. We are quite advanced toward publishing the English edition. Our current strategy is to work toward a world-wide symposium in 2018 on "Art and the Sacred", and during 2017, smaller, effective dialogs with professionals in the area of "Psychology and the Sacred". "Solaris" would be the backbone of developing all this. Very personally we are starting to work very seriously on a book on "Sankhya", which is the whole cosmology of the Vedic wealth. We are enjoying the help of Alejandro, Miguel Polo  and Professor Ravi Gupta. We hope to do something very useful.

Our heath is pretty good for 68-years old. Our office/Ashram was invaded by sometimes mean spiders while we were gone, but we seem to be winning that war. Our religious institution, ISKCON, is growing. For example, receiving a robust personal letter of congratulations from the new Prime Minister of England, and of course, along with that facing new, very serious challenges that are complete different from the ones that it originally faced as a young evangelical movement (God's Marines).

What is your news?    We are based in Nashville until January 1st, then go for some Symposia and other work in India until third week of February. This October-November, we will be in a little tour of Chicago, Richmond, Raleigh and D.C. Any work we can do for you?  We would certainly like your help in this "Solaris" and other work!

Sincerely,
Hanmatpresaka Swami

Hare Krsna...

Esteemed Professor Samaresh Bandyopadhyay et al,
Here it is Sri Krsna Janmastami and trying to do anything else for us in ISKCON is I guess what is like trying to do anything else in Bengal during Durga Puja.
Fasting 30-hours on just water, but also bought, transported and planted two trees, pear and apple, and a brilliant red rose bush, . When we were digging we encountered an ENORMOUS root and we had to isolate it and then saw at it for 20-minutes. The sun was blazing, our muscles were straining, but we felt quite happy thinking that this is for Krsna and Radha's satisfaction, we can make excellent fresh juice for Them.
We finally talked with Rama-giri-dhari Das. Of course, after weeks out of station, when he got back his business was in disorder. We discussed all the topics briefly but we will have to do it in more depth on Monday.
We also finalized our Kartika travels: Chicago-Richmond (Virginia)-Raleigh(North Carolina)-Washington D.C. Do you know anyone there we should contact?

We are actually abandoning projects where people are not reciprocating, and hope to get the transcription with our thoughts done by next week of the dialog between Prof. Howard Wheeler and Prabhupada about Carl Jung's thoughts.
We will call on Saturday.

Please accept my humblest obeisances, Let the vessels sail forever, and chakravaka birds sing, (I wonder is it a water bird, or how it is said, Maharaja?) I am 35, in my jyotish I have 5 things in aquarius, but my nakshatra is satabisha. My partner was expert in jyotisha and a disciple.

Esteemed Guru Maharaja:  Sincere, humble dandavats and pranams. All Glories to Sri Guru and Gauranga!  All Glories to Sri Krsna-Balarama!  Sorry!  It's been too long since I've communicated by blog.

1.     Several families have relocated away from our yatra.  Very short-handed.  But, still endeavoring to produce nice Sri Janmastami program at the same community hall we rented for this purpose last year at which we had 400 attending!  Not anticipating as many this year due to Janmastami being on a Wed instead of a Sat.  Still, we can only desire properly; rest is up to The Lord!

2.     Dave Prabhu was tasked to build an altar for above event.  He has been engrossed in this service for about two months.  It is finished now and a very precisely built, lovely altar it is.  There will be 4 sets of deities.  Our Radha-Gopinath and Lord Jagannath and Their Lordships, Chaitanya Dasi's Radha-Govinda and Scruthi's and Gunarnava's Gaura Nitai.  Will send you a photo after Janmastami.

3.  Home programs to celebrate Krsna-Balaram Appearance and Srila Prabhupada's Vyasa Puja at Govinda Priya's and Shankaranand's.

4.  Haven't heard from Grass Valley contingency.  Am going to call today or tomorrow to see if they will be able to attend Janmastami.

5.     We are going to San Diego County (Romana) this week to visit those 2 grand children before they return to school.  Will be back in time for Janmastami.

6.     I have been practically bedridden for about 2 months;  weak, dizzy, unfocused, severe muscle spasms, short of breath, etc. Discovered I am low on iron.  Cannot take supplements.  Must go in to infusion center for 8-hour iron infusion once a month.  Hopefully no more frequently.  Am slowly coming back to life.  Discovered iron insufficiency is common in vegetarian diet, even an iron-rich one such as i have been on for years.  Body has difficult time storing iron from veggie sources and over time, my bone-marrow storage became depleted.  i would not have imagined that low iron could cause such infirmity.  Now I know and am recommending all vegetarians take good quality iron supplement on a on-going basis.

HpS - Iron Woman!!

7.     Received your letter to Dave and me.  Very nice Spanish language bookmarks.  Thank you! Especially like the layout and amount of good, solid information contained in the Simposio Internacional fold-up piece, complete with photos/bios of guest speakers, schedule, sponsors.  Whomever designed this did an excellent service to Guru and Gauranga!!!

8.     Lastly, I will be very honored to take a look at Bhaktri Sastra Guide to see if i am qualified to clean it up with a little redesigning.  What is your schedule?  may I do it over a little time?  This is my schedule:  Having bladder surgery August 19th.  Recoup time 20 days during some of which i believe I will be well enough to work on such a project.   Sept. 12th heading to Ramona Ca to care for 47 year old daughter, Terra, who is having a "sinus lift."  She will need care at home for a week or more. I can take my laptop with me and should have time to work on it while there.  Then back to regular life here in Auburn.  In your letter, you mentioned texting/calling.  Those are important elements so the secy can ask questions of The Boss's reps, Monkey and Piggy, as questions arise, otherwise there is unnecessary stress.

9.     Wow!  Meeting with esteemed guru Maharaja in June 2017 in Seattle!  What a transcental adventure for Dave and me!  It's in the future, but right now sounds sublime if health is strong.

You are ever in my prayers!

Your Useless Servant,

Kalindi Devi Dasi

HpS - ASA --- Sounds like you are in the final stages of Boarding for the Vaikuntha airplane. Are you chanting transcendentally???    Thank you for the news.   Yes, sometimes more people come to the Temple, somtimes less.  Never can predict, but seems Krsna is quit conscious of who he is sending!!!
Hope we get fotos of Altar and Festival.

Ready to leave this body??   It has done a lot of good.

ps... to Letter of 08/16/16

Thought you would want news from S F Ratha.  Forgot to mention, we did not go as I was too weak to sustain travel, plus the event.  The Folsom Group of Prabhupada disciples, not officially connected to ISKON SAC but a very nice group, is having a mini-Ratha first weekend in Sept in Folsom.  Radha-Krsnan inviteded us.  (this is the group he has attended for years primarily).  They all also attended the SF Ratha of course, but have a long tradition of this mini Ratha with a beautiful little cart which also serves as Radha-Krsnan's personal altar.  This is my speed right now and Dave and me are really looking farward to worshipping Lord Jagannatha at this event.   YS, Kalindi Devi Dasi

HpS - Jaya!   Very nice.  Lokanatha Das called me after the festival, and Caitanya caritamrta a Subhra went and gave a report.     In any situation Krsna will always put us in the best service postion, no?  He is a greedy guy. Always puts people in best position for His satisfaction.

Can you do some editing work for our Solari magazine???   How is Captain Dave Prestha??   Thank you so much for the news!
