Hare krishna

I’m David Leyton. I’m from Santiago of Chile. Please accept my humble reverence, under your lotus feet.

Please, forgive me for my affront because of my ignorance. Prabhupada has taught me, through your words, that Kirshna’s mercy and blessing will be able to help me to use my intelligence wisely.

Maharaj, how are you? How is your health? Have devotees received you well? I haven’t written to you since a year and this was because my mind hasn’t allowed me to be in contact. I’m very attached to my material wishes and I tend to wander to the past. But because of Jaganath ki jay’s mercy and the devotees’ mercy, I could inject myself with enthusiasm again and write to you.

HpS - We recevied a letter from Temple authorities proposing you as a Refugee for Initiation, no?   We must develop regular communication then!

I’m chanting 16 rounds every day and I chant at least a japa at home before going to work. I almost always chant 16 yapas during the day and I hardly ever finish them the next day. Until now, during approximately 6 years, I’ve chanted all my rounds, I haven’t eaten meat, fish, seafood, eggs, and I haven’t poisoned myself either. But I’ve bought cookies (without eggs) in the supermarket; this is a weakness that I’ve been trying to overcome through a vegan and gluten-intolerant diet (I’m not eating gluten and dairy products because of health problems) for many months.

This 21 November is my first wedding anniversary.

HpS - Aaaah!   Yesterday. Hope it was very nice, purifying, motivating!

This period has been very happy. My wife is Macarena Palominos who is an English teacher from University of Santiago, Chile. I want to be with her until death us do part.

After The II Education Congress, I got really excited and a wish to go deeper in Krishna’s consciousness grew stronger within me. I started to serve to the Santiago temple, to Prabhupada’s festivities. Since 11 March, I’ve been helping with the cleaning in the kitchen and serving prasadam. I was missing a couple of days because of work, but I’m doing my best and helping as much as I can, especially during important festivities.

HpS - What is your work?

My wife and I were in Ratha Yatra this 12 November. It was one of the biggest festivals in Chile. It was held opposite Moneda Palace (the seat of Government), and I realized that I’m very happy of being part of this international society that serves to Krishna and collaborating with devotees.

Maharaj, we’re eagerly waiting for your return to Chile in order to listen to your lively classes.

Le escribo ya que ha pasado una semana mas y sigo con mis 16 rondas 4 principios, dos ofrendas al día, el día domingo fui al templo de vrinda, me recibieron muy bien, me sentí mucho mejor después de tomar dardhan de las deidades, aun estoy preocupada, pero voy viendo las cosas mejor cada dia...

En su carta anterior me dice que debo encontrar asociacion y en Vrinda la encuentro hay buenos devotos y voy a participar de los programas de domingo. Este sábado empezare a conectar me al starmeeting [Start Meeting] para sus clases.

Sabemos que hay ciertos ingredientes que no entran al altar, especulamos,  que podríamos ofrecer otras ofrendas a la murti de Srila Prabhupada.

Amado Maestro, es siempre un motivo de felicidad ponerme en contacto con usted. Cuando estoy en mi casa haciendo geewes [ghee wicks?] para el templo siempre me pongo una clase suya en internet. Me encantaría poder verle más a menudo... de todas formas es maravilloso poder tener un Maestro como usted. 

Hoy quisiera contarle lo contenta que estoy con mis Deidades; toda la familia hemos cambiado desde que están aquí. Yo cocino para ellas y todos los días les hago algún postre porque sé que les gusta mucho el dulce. Las baño una vez a la semana y hasta las pongo a dormir la siesta después de comer; creo que les apetece.

HpS - ASA -- Muy bien. Son Gaura-Nitai. ? .   Puede llevar al parque a veces o a festivales, para introduzcarlos a la demas y como ellos puede cantar y bailar para ellos.

También sigo con el Sankirtan. S. Caitanya Mahaprabhú es tan misericordioso conmigo que de vez en cuando me permite encontrarme con alguna persona con inquietudes espirituales. Entonces, le hablo de templo y de las actividades que tenemos y la invito. También le cuento que tenemos un kirtan aquí en Villalba y que si la gustaría venir. Si dice que si, me quedo con su teléfono para avisarla cada vez que hacemos alguna actividad. El sábado pasado fuimos mi hermana y yo a Segovia a distribuir libros. Estuvimos por la mañana y dejamos 11.

Tenemos pensado ir una vez al mes. Todo esto me llena de felicidad. Poder trabajar para S. Prabhupada y para Krisna es maravilloso.

También me gustaría preguntarle acerca de mi iniciación. Como ya sabe, tengo grandes deseos de dar ese paso. Han pasado ya 7 meses desde que lo pedí refugio y quisiera saber cómo me ve usted y si tengo que hacer algo más o de otra manera.

Si esta cantando 16-rondas buenas cada dia minimo, manteniendo 4-principios estrictas, llevantando para brahma muhurta (1-1/2 horas antes de llevanta el sol), mangala arati-kirtan, SB, Prasadam... y ... has tomado el curso Discípulo ..  y ... carta de recommendacion del presidente del Templo... puede tomar primero iniciacion en una mez despues de nosotros recibimos un carta del Presidente.

H'are Krsna, Mates!    AGTSP.....   paoho.....   How are ya?    We are still here in Raleigh.  Big, beautiful college program at 'North Carolina University at Raleigh' last night. About 25-members of the Bhakti Yoga Club and new guests.

We did psychology and the Sacred and some of the Graduate Engineering Students from India were even nodding when we quoted from Albert Camus. If the steps to Krsna, ISKCON, worked for us, they can work for others. Of course, we can give advice about how to relate to or even avoid some of them.

HOw are You??

We've answered all the mail to three days ago.  It is 3.43PM. We have been working without break since 3AM. Finally got Rama-giri-dhari Das on the phone. Called Dr. Samaresh. Class to the house folk! Very nice!   Eating Prasad once a day = Peas porridge with carrots, little butter, salt, fruit and yogurt.  During the day water, air, dancing and maybe some Fennel tea without sugar.

Lots of letters.   You can see the one we posted about Kolkatta preaching.

Seven university programs so far.

We have not done Disciple Reports for a while.  Other stuff, but no stomach for it now.    Class tonight on NOI!!!       and another on Sunday ....   Sunday Feast is permitted!    ....  Oink!    ... . .
We have a lot of work to do but seems that it is getting done.

If we have missed something important, let us know.

We want to buy all the South America tickets before we leave for India.  

South American Education Symposium in Rio is little weak (19th - 26th April) because seems Jagat guru Das has not got the same time to work on it as last two years. We need to get committment from at least one other leader that he will go, then we can be sure that we will have someone to associate with during that week.

Psychology and the Sacred 2017 (26-29 June) is strong because of Sattva efforts and so much response from Miguel, La Catolica, Ramon, Eduardo et al.

Seattle conference is supposed to happen first part of May, but Mataji's pressure cooker blew up and was medical emergency, so Rama-giri-dhari Das could not talk with Seattle for final dates.  That would be Boise, San Jose, Sacramento etc also.

O.K. Chant Hare Krsna and be happy.

Walking around on the cement drive way in our bare feet with the slanting sun, we could not help think of Vrndavana in Kartika. Big lots here. Opulent homes.

HpS - Do you mean he (BSST) didn't take Sannyaya from GKDB?   Is there some doubt that GKDB didn't give him Mantra initiation as a Hari-nam disciple or Gayatri mantra?

In Nitai das's own words: "The main reason for my departure from ISKCON was that I came to believe

(and I still believe) that Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvatı

received proper initiation into the Caitanya Vaisnavasampradaya(community)."

In the same text he writes like this "diksa (initiation)".

About sannyasa initiation he says, by citing , Bhaktiprasada Puri Goswami, one of 'previous' disciples of BSST :" ... was groundless (since Bhaktisiddhanta had given it to himself)".

I am not advocating that whatever is said in the source link is truth. I came to Nitai das (Neal Delmonico) and started a little investigation because I saw the name in the book you gave. And, as I said earlier, it arouse interest in me because I was aware of Srila Prabhupada's words about Nitai.

Hope all this is not disturbing. That is not my motive.

HpS - AGTSP paoho.   When I tried to send this letter it got lost, the internet crashed!   Is it the hand of God!? (He smiles mildly but with some depth).
Your investigations are not disturbing to us. They are wonderful.

We are trying to follow the example given to us of Lord Caitanya with Sarva bhauma Bh. Acharya and Prakasananda Sarasvati et al, and your investigations help so much.

One question is if Prof. Delmonico has change his opinions?  In general we would feel that his objections as described do not relate to the reality of Parampara. Hari-nama Diksa from GKDB may have been informal, but did it communicate the essence?

We investigate Srila Prabhupada. He is the current link in the Parampara. If we are satisfied that his extreme insistence on speaking and acting in the Paramapara is something that he requires from disciples and the Guru he accepted, then the series of links goes back quickely to Krsna.  That is the test, no? Do we actually have a direct experience of Krsna!?
