All glories to Srila Prabhupada!
We are reading about the Ekadasi in the wonderful application and for today's pandava nirjala ekadasi,
one of the things that is prescribed for today is to perform a recommended sacrifice:
...Oh Bhima, Lord Sri Krsna has said that whoever observes this Ekadasi should take a holy bath, give charity to a worthy person, chant the holy names of the Lord on a japa-mala, and perform some kind of recommended sacrifice, for by doing these things on this day, one receives imperishable benefits.
We hope to give all the charity in our hearts to His image and please our adorable Lord with lotus eyes. Asking for His blessing on this sweet day, I pray at His feet always;

You asked about Nirjala ekadasi in the chat but not enough time to answer then, so we suggested you write here, to our Blog ο»ΏπΈο»Ώ with the Category of Hot Topic.
As we remember, we never did much of Pandava-nirjala Ekadasi when Srila Prabhupada was physically present.
Later it seemed to develop as a requirement in ISKCON. Then we remember Bhanu Swami and others researched it and concluded that doing Nirjala ekadasi was not a requirement in Gaudiya Vaisnava tradition.
The story on the Calendar App may be from a book on Ekadasi that I first saw translated by Krsna-Balarama Swami. A general promotion for ekadasi like a rajarsik purana, not exactly for regular iskcon devotees, but more like a promotional offer to get people to become devotees.
