Many times HpS has warned not to go beyond Canto 2 if one is still burdened by gross material desires.

ASA - SB says. Not just desire but actual activity. SB 2.2.12? 13?

In the last two years, however—whether by the blessing of HpS or perhaps due to the weakening of upastha-vegam through disease—we have begun to feel that we may carefully proceed beyond Canto 2.

This inclination was further strengthened by the association of a Mādhava saint in Varanasi, who strongly urged us to take full shelter of Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam.

Looking back, several recent experiences have deepened this inspiration:

• After watching the Mahāvatār Nṛsiṁha movie, we were struck by the softness yet firmness of Prahlāda Mahārāja. It strongly reminded us of the same combination of softness and firmness we see in our separated son.
• Seeing ourselves in the educational classroom, especially surrounded by youth of 20–25 years.
• Recognizing the presence of a large Hiraṇyakaśipu within ourselves.
• And finally, contemplating HpS’s Deity of Lord Nṛsiṁhadeva.

These reflections have inspired us to undertake a careful, threadbare analysis of the Seventh Canto—particularly the emotions and interactions of Hiraṇyakaśipu, Prahlāda, Ṣaṇḍa (the teacher), and the schoolmates.

We feel we need the permission, blessing, and empowerment of HpS before proceeding.
