A while ago I met a type of clown called Pierrot.

Pierrot is a melancholic character born from Italian commedia dell'arte and later adopted by French theatre. He represents the sad, naive clown, often in love without being loved back. Originally, he didn’t sing or play instruments, but over time he became associated with art and music, as seen in Schoenberg’s piece Pierrot Lunaire. Today, he is sometimes portrayed as a bohemian artist who sings or plays instruments.
