Effects of Martial Art Training

There is an incredible workshop happening here in Kalarigram. We are now graduating from long and short stick to horn and sword weapons. Such amazing expert teachers! My body is a lot stronger and their confidence in me is so empowering.


I see such an improvement in me from last year! Physically, mentally and emotionally fortified. They say a student of martial arts (4-6hrs/day of intensive training) especially one like Kalari coming from Vedic traditions makes you shed so many negative thoughts and emotions and indisciplining depressiveness to even stand in class.


Kalari is supposed to awaken your kundalini and reactivate Prana in the body and balance that Prana’s movement through your chakras up and down. It’s supposed to balance your ida and pingala energies.


I can see the results in my health too! Finally after 8 months of this struggling sadhana (4-5hrs/day) I’m starting to experience a little drop of its potency. One lecturer shared that Lord Shiva, who himself lived in the mountains created all these art forms for our benefit: dance, yoga and Kalari!


Now I’m starting to understand why you may have advised me to take this training. It was tooth and back breakingly hard in the beginning 😂, but it’s incredibly strengthening.


First the mind’s forbearance has to be activated fully to not drop to being tortured by the intensity of the practice but instead to rise with the prana and be able to tolerate the level of pain!!! I feel like if I continue to train like this, I could lead an army 😂! 🤩

I don’t know of a better cleanse, from somatic release (sweating till all your clothes are dripping) to washing out and dropping out of your system all excess emotions and baggage.


Otherwise you simply can’t get through so many hours of training in martial arts!

You really learn to work with your mind and body to reduce engagement in draining activities and simultaneously channel natural sources of energy like sound, sun, air, and diet etc. to stay recharge…amazing 🤯.

When you initially gave me this instruction I was honestly a bit shocked.

I felt it so unnatural almost, coming from elegant dancer training into this military martial arts lifestyle.

Now seeing these wonderful results, my heart is filled with such gratitude! Thank you so much Maharaj. 🙏🏻
