Question on Jung Reading Course

3 years, 9 months ago by sugopiradha in Special Category B

Hare Krishna Guru Maharaja,

Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada. Thank you very much for your response to my previous questions.

Guru Maharaja, you suggested that I should start out reading Jung's works and gradually connect a few of his concepts to Srila Prabhupada's theological treatises. However, from my conversation with the professor, it seems like he wants me to predetermine 3-4 concepts to study and compare with Srila Prabhupada's books.

I have been watching videos and skimming through reading material to find out what Jung's major contributions are. I came up with the following list:

Theory of Typology

Anima

Animus

Shadow

The Self

Synchronicity

Individuation

Introversion & Extraversion

Sensing, thinking, feeling, willing

Archetypes

Persona

Gurudeva, I was wondering if you could mercifully suggest to me which ones have greater potential to be linked with SP's work and have enough material from both Jung and SP so that I can meet the requirement of reading a 100 pages/week. I can read more about the topics you suggest and compile the curriculum for the course. I am eternally grateful for your guidance.

Your insignificant servant,

Sugopi Radha Devi dasi

100 pages/week for how many weeks.

From your list I would suggest:

Theory of Typology x VAD and Three Modes of Nature

The Self x Sat Cit Ananda character of the Self; Self and Super self; Self and Primoridial self.

Synchronicity x Karma

Individuation x Self Realization ... adau sraddha... anna maya, prana maya..

Introversion & Extraversion x Light of the Bhagavata verse #...?

Archetypes X Virate rupa (Soul and Super soul)

Persona x Cosmology - Bhumir apo nalo vayu, Kham mano Buddhir eva ca.

You can claim that you will read BG As It Is, also LOB, then SB, Dialog between Deva huti and Kapila?? Third Canto of Brahma and Vidura?

Enough material?

Ask more details as you need to.
